Evie has her first cold, and it's all in her sinuses. She's so stuffed up she can't breathe through her nose at all, my poor girl.
I know it's pretty common for a baby to not nurse much while sick because of this- but I'm nervous I'm going to lose breastfeeding for good! She hasn't nursed since Saturday night, and even though I keep offering the breast, she's not even trying to latch anymore, she just cries and pushes away. So I've been pumping... but she won't drink the milk out of a bottle or sippy either! I've gotten maybe 10 oz in her today, same for yesterday. The only way I can get bm in her is mixed with cereal, or letting her sip it out of a glass. She's eating fine, and her diapers are still wet (although not as much as usual for sure).
Last time I pumped I got less than 2 oz. I'm going to once more before bed, but I'm worried that this strike will end our nursing days. What can I do so that this won't happen???
Side point.... the pumping is killing me, I have a bleeding crack on my left side just from two days of pumping. I am so depressed about this!!

Re: Refusing breastmilk while sick- help!
For your nipple, put some breastmilk on it and let it air dry after pumping. Keep offering the breast, but suction her nose out first so she can breath better. Also try nursing her in a more upright position. How is she sleeping? Have you had her checked for an ear infection?

Thank you- yes we're doing all of this to help the congestion, nothing seems to be making much of a dent. She breathes the best when we're in the bathroom with the shower running hot for steam- but we can't be in there all day!! We emptied out the hot water tank a few times yesterday... but it's a short-lived help.
Still no nursing today, we're headed to the peds this morning bc she started pulling on her ear last night, so I want to check for an ear infection. We'll see.
