Babies: 9 - 12 Months

What's your LO's first B-day theme?

I'm thinking of doing Yo Gabba Gabba because he loves it and it's the only show that he even turns his head towards the TV for but I just can't decide because I was just going to do a Blue themed birthday for him, that's what I did for my DD we just did pink and girly things because Eebee( just google it if you don't know what it is most kids love it)  was her favorite at the time but it was so hard to theme around. Anyways I guess I'm having such a hard time deciding is because should I save the characters party's for later or is now fine too. So what's everyone else doing?

Re: What's your LO's first B-day theme?

  • We avoided characters til later birthdays...for DS we did a bear/sports theme(went along with his nursery), and for DD we are doing a cupcake theme. But we did go Yo Gabba Gabba for DS's 2nd brithday, and it was super cute!

  • I think you can do yo gaba gaba - Im taking it one step further and probably going to do a pirate theme or maybe a fire truck theme. Im not really into the baby stuff and i deff dont want like abc's or something like that. The only show he even remotely interested in is turbo dogs. which is on like saturday morning cartoons and there is no decorations for that lol.

He has a huge pirate ship my brother got him for christmas and is in love with it. lol. My dad is a fireman so its only natural for me to want to give my son a fireman party.

I did want to do a Little Man party but i just dont think i can pull it off with the amount of people that we are going to have.

  • We did Dr. Seuss. I had way too much fun with it.

I think for 2nd bday we will do Sock Monkey.

Hungry Caterpillar theme is done cutely as well.

    Happy planning!

  • We're doing Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and it has been really fun to plan! There are GREAT ideas on this site too : https://www.karaspartyideas.com/
  • We're doing a rainbow theme for DD's party.

  • We are doing a cupcake theme.

DD doesn't watch tv, so she's not into any shows. And I figured this might be the only birthday I can do whatever I want without her having an opinion :)

  • I have no idea what Yo Gabba Gabba is.  I'm committed to never throwing a character theme party if my life depends on it!  LOL.

We are doing a plane theme since our LO is quite the traveler.  "Time flies when you're having fun!  Isaac XX is turning one!"  Kinda cheesy but it fits him really well!

  • I don't have a theme for my daughters party. It is going to be very simple. I am not wasting time doing a huge birthday or birthday theme for something she wont even remember.

  • Like the previous posters mentioned, this will probably be one of his only birthdays when he doesnt have a say in it so we are not doing characters this year. We are doing mainly color themed aqua and orange with elephants. Next year we will most likely do yo gabba gabba since they have a alot of 2nd birthday stuff, and its the only show we let LO watch and he loves brobee.

  • Awh, my guy loves Gabba - and only Gabba :) Why don't you combine your ideas and do a Gabba party but highlight the colors of the...whatever they are. Or choose one like Bro-bee (sp) and do green? There's that bday episode where they all have to wear three party hats on their heads to look like him. Your friends would love that! LOL

I'm doing something small - it'll be Mad Hatter Tea Party because he wears so many hats and was preemie so it's his birthday but his unbirthday, too ;)

  • A "You are my Sunshine" theme is what I'm planning. I got tons of ideas on Pinterest, but it will be smaller and simpler than my Pinterest board would lead you to believe. Wink

  • Vintage circus. We've got old carnival games, a person making balloon animals, and a photo booth with handlebar mustaches, top hats, and clown noses. I made the invitations and I'm making all the decorations myself and having too much fun. We're doing popcorn, peanuts, animal crackers, cupcakes, rootbeer, and lemonade.

  • I was going to do Breakfast at Tiffany's but quickly decided to save that for toddler years (4/5ish).  I know I was reaching...

We've decided to do Tangled.  DD LOVES Tangled and I've found cute ideas on Pinterest!

  • I did a Winter ONEderland theme for DD and it was today actually! It was amazing and I went way overboard and it turned out perfect lol Thanks to pinterest and Etsy.

  • We're doing a Winter ONEderland theme. My mom picked up white paper lanterns from the dollar store and we have a ton (like over 100) crocheted snowflakes that my deceased grandmother made. Both H & I have big immediate families. We're doing a chili bar, soups, & a hot chocolate bar.
  • We're doing a cupcake theme too.  She doesn't watch tv yet so she doesn't have a favorite character from tv or movies to use.  I figure once she's older & can pick out her favorite things she can choose a theme, then remember it!

  • We did a Winter ONEderland party and it turned out great!  Winter is my favorite season and I love snow, so I took advantage of the perfect theme. The hot chocolate bar was a hit!

  • I wanted to do Dr Suess, was set on it for a while. Then the hubby said he would like a Mickey Mouse theme. Since he pretty much goes along with everything I choose for the little man I figured I would go with it.

Going to be more of a red black and white theme then the Mickey Mouse Club thing. Getting him a pair of Jordans to go with the decore. Stick out tongue

  • Olivia, she loves the books, like would sleep with one of them if I let her, carries it around everywhere, looks at the pages and laughs. But I don't know how "themed" it is. I just got some plates and cupcakes picks. She got a red dress from my ILs and I ordered some striped tights for her. Nothing over the top.

  • We are doing Candyland.  We have went way overboard, but it's going to be fantastic!
  • We are planning on doing a Lil Rebel theme...but I am holding off on having DS2's party until the beginning of March since my dad is having heart surgery 10 days before DS's bday and last time he had surgery it didn't go so well :-(.

  • DS was born on 3/20 and I'm going to have his party the Saturday before, which is 3/17. So we're doing a St. Patrick's day theme...rainbows, pots of gold, green decorations, etc, and he'll wear something green.

I'm doing a simplified Mickey Mouse theme - I'm not going to do all the Disney junk, but I'm having my MIL (or I'm getting on Etsy) a Minnie dress for my munchkin, and we're going to have a Mickey cake. She's pretty obsessed with that darned, "Hi kids! Want to come inside my clubhouse? Well, allllllright!"

I swear, I hear this in my sleep. Over, and over, and over...

Lol! My DS is the same. He gets a big grin when that show starts. We'll also be doing a Mickey theme, I think.

Erm... I might have to steal this!! We've gotten almost all the Olivia books as gifts since O's been born, and it would be fitting ("Of course Olivia's not at all sleepy!"). Otherwise it's just cake and balloons.

hahah, go for it. I got like 12 picks for 3.50 with shipping on ebay. My fave is  "Olivia is good a wearing people out."  I always want to read Molly though lol.  I feel like her personality is a lot like Olivia is already.  She is so headstrong and confident already.
You know how she is naked in the circus book? Molls thought it was the funniest thing ever. lol
