NBR- my Shark Mop stopped working. Suggestions?

I plugged my Shark Mop in today and it was making little simmering noises but never really steamed up. It was originally plugged into a power strip so I thought maybe it wasn't getting enough power so I plugged it into the wall and then it never really worked again. Thoughts? DIY repair? I also tried looking online and I am not sure where to get it fixed if I can't do it myself. Argh.

  • No advice, but I'd buy a new one. I don't know what I would do without mine! My house would be dirrrrrty! Good luck!!

  • We had the same problem. It was mineral build up in the head of the mop. DH took the square mop head off and dismantled it. He said it a where the hose meets the fitting inside of the square head. I used t last night and it works fine now.

  • Have you had it less than a year?  The same thing happened to us, too.  I called customer service and they suggested sticking a small pin the hole where the steam comes out.  Don't stick it too far up!  Sometimes this helps to unclog the mineral buildup.

We tried and it didn't work so we had to send it back to the store.  It cost us $20 to purchase a box and packing materials and then Shark charges you $20 to ship it back.  But, since it was under 1 year they send us a brand new one because they couldn't fix it.  I was still bummed I had to pay $40 but I'm hoping the same problem doesn't happen again.

  • If you end up buying a new one, I highly suggest this one.  Free site to store shipping, not a bad price at all, and it's basically the same thing as my mom's more expensive Haan steam mop minus some of the cosmetic details (nothing that really makes that big of a difference IMO).
