We just bought a BOB Revolution SE. We haven't used it yet, but everyone I have asked who has it absoulutely loves it. It's pretty expensive, but we bought one used on Craigslist. When buying a jogging stroller make sure it has a front wheel that locks and swivels. I was also told not to get one with metal spokes b/c they rust. If you run a lot of hills you might want a handbrake. The BOB I bought only has a foot brake, but it is really flat where I live so it shouldn't be a problem.
I have a Chariot Cougar and it's fantastic. I use the infant sling accessory and the pediatrician gave me the okay to start running with LO at two months. We bought the Chariot so that DH can use it as a bike trailer when she turns one. It has multiple conversion kits for biking, strolling, jogging, even X-country skiing!

I had the Jeep Liberty and didn't care for it so we got the BOB. I love that the front wheel locks or swivels, I also think it folds up fairly small for a jogging stroller. It is such a smooth ride. Now I just wish I could get DD to sit it in again!

I have a BOB Revolution (front wheel locks and can swivel). I have the Dualie because I have twins, but the single is the same. They can be pricey, but if you are getting the single I don't think it is that bad. You can also check Craigslist and Consignment shops. I have had it for almost 3 years now and it is great. They only thing is the dualie does not fold down well for transport in the car, but a single I would think would be a lot easier to manage. Best money I ever spent, it glides when pushed.

We have the baby jogger city elite and it's worked well for us, I've noticed its getting a bit heavier as he gets older where it didn't seem to be the case in the BOB we tried (might be better suspension).
I know I'm not safe but I don't ever lock the front wheel, its too much of a PITA turning corners to have to lift the whole front wheel off the ground to make the turn. I've never had a problem leaving it in swivel so I just go with it, and turns are much easier.
We have the BOB Ironman, and while I don't run with it anymore (I prefer to leave the kids at home) when I did run with it I loved it. It is meant more as a strict running stroller and therefore has a fixed front wheel. Makes it great for running, but some people don't like it if they're also going to use it for walks and would rather have one that swivels and locks. I've never found it to be a big deal.
And not to pick on the PP, but the Baby Jogger City Elite is not meant to be used as a jogging stroller. I would recommend getting a stroller that is meant to be used for running, and one that has at least 12" tires (and since you're an avid runner I'd opt for a stroller with 16" tires for at least the back wheels if not all three).
Thanks for the information. I'm well aware that the Baby Jogger isn't a jogging stroller, and I don't really care. I wasn't initially looking for a stroller to jog in, but now I do jog with him. I also have a burley solo with the jogging stroller attachment so if I really want to jog I can use that.

FYI my Baby jogger does have 12" wheels too.
No need to get defensive. I wasn't writing that to provide you with the information. I was writing that for the OP. She stated she was an avid runner, so I thought it was important to point out for her.
Get the BOB Revolution! It is so worth the money. I use mine EVERY day and the quality and construction is amazing. It pushes through anything. I have had it for 2+ years and put a lot of miles on it. Yes, it is a little more money than some of the others, but considering how much you use it, it is not worth getting a cheaper model. A stroller is one thing you do not want to skimp on (we had a chicco stroller to start with and HATED it!) Having a quality stroller makes a huge difference!!!
