Baby gate shopping sucks. HELP?!

H is insisting that we get a gate that has a good size opening/walk-through. The gate we have around our pellet stove has a walk-through of 14". Yep, it's that small. So while searching on Amazon, BRU & other sites, I looked for gate width. And kept looking. I even looked on the manufacturer's site. N.O.T.H.I.N.G.

Seriously, why is this not a standard piece of info? I can get the height, width span, swing directions, aut-close, extensions. No where can I find if H's fat azz can fit through comfortably. This sucks.

  • I have the munchkin auto close gate and it's great. The opening is nice and wide and (not that this helps you for the bottom of the stairs) it opens both ways which is awesome.

ETA: Also just found this: Has an extra-wide 21.5" walk through

We have this same gate at the top of our stairs going out to the side entry.  So far, I like it quite a bit except that I feel like I'm going through the gate at least 30 times per day because we use those stairs sooo much to get in and out of the house and to get down to the finished basement.

Yeah, we're going through all the time too. I have mine at the top of the stairs, and we tie it open to the railing when we're down stairs so it's less of a PITA. OTOH, using it so much makes me infinitely happy that it opens both ways.
