So DH and I have concluded that most of the names we like are very "unisex" if you will....probably some that you would think of for a boy even. Many of the more girly names we love have been or are being used by friends (who yes, are currently pregnant).
From the extensive research that I have done (probably more on names then on anything else!), once "boy" names are trending upwards for girls. Either way, we are trying to find a unique name that we love. Let me know what you think! Hopefully one day soon this sweet little girl will have a name!
TIA for those of you who actually read all this!!

I picked Madelynn because it's the only name (on your list) I would ever name a girl. FWIW I would spell it Madeline. I just can't see a girl named Hunter, Logan, Madden.. to me that's like naming a little girl Johnathan or Matthew. They aren't unisex at all IMO..
Have you thought of these? Harper, Jordan, Marley, Reese, Kennedy, Cameron (or alternate spelling) .. Those are more unisex to me.
My sister likes unisex names too and she's having a tough time with them
Good Luck!

We would definitely ask them before deciding to use it for sure and respect what they said. It's an unfortunate coincidence because we loved the name before we met them and it just happened to occur to me when they announced they were expecting that they may want to use it!
If you're naming a GIRL, I would choose Madeline (spelled this way, no Y's necessary). Or possibly Landry. Of course it is an odd situation with your friend. I think if this child of theirs ends up being a boy, tell them you liked that name before you met them. Honestly, I don't see the big deal in naming your child the same name another couple you only see 1-2 times a year. Who's to say that kid is ever going to be a part of your child's life in 10 years & beyond.
FWIW, I don't understand naming your girl a boy's name, unless it's their middle name, and chosen because it was your maiden name, or some other special connection. There are TONS of girl names out there.
https://nymbler.com/ is a great resource to discover names you might like, based on names you like.
I chose to do with a y because I want it pronounced lynn not line.
Thanks for the name site suggestion. I will try that.
How about Madeleine? That's my preferred spelling, if I were to use it.
This. How about Merrill, Casey, Elliot, or Kerry...
