Anyone have a VBAC?

I had a c-section with DD but with the new info on the dangers of RCS I'm looking into VBAC when we have #2 but it's not popular in AL. We live in the Tuscaloosa area and I'm looking for a pro-VBAC OB.

Re: Anyone have a VBAC?

  • Have you checked in B'ham?  I am in the H'ville area, and a good friend of mine who wanted to do a VBAC with her second had to go all the way to Nashville to find a pro-VBAC doctor three years ago.  I'm not sure how much has changed since then.

If you don't mind me asking, what new info on dangers of repeat c/s's?  I had a c/s with my daughter 2 years ago, and although I am not pregnant again or plan to be any time soon, if we have a 2nd one I was planning on doing a repeat c/s.  So just curious what the new dangers are?

  • Northport DCH has one of the best VBAC rates in the state so I'm looking there to start. Basically the article in the American College of OB/Gyn journal found that RCS had higher risks of hemorrhage and death than VBACs if it was a low transverse incision. Basically the less the 1% chance of rupture is safer than the risks of repeat surgery. The article is linked on the VBAC board above if you want to read it for yourself.
