Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Solids and Constipation.

We started solids at 4 months,  I've started giving him fruits in the AM, rice in with some sort of veggie for lunch, and a veggie for dinner.  He drinks between 25 and 30 oz of milk a day.

In the last few days his stools have been much thicker than normal, but he's still not straining.  I realize this is probably a result of getting more solids (we started the 3 meals just this week), but when should I be concerned.

Re: Solids and Constipation.

  • Hey PharmD!  That happened to us when we started 3 meals too.  I think you don't need to worry until it seems to be bothering them or the frequency of poops drops down really low.

  • lol.. The frequency has risen exponentially.  I used to have a once daily early AM pooper, but now HE. WONT. STOP.
