White film after boiling parts

Maybe this is a water problem, but when I boil bottle/pump pieces, they have a white film on them when they dry. So I wash them in soapy water again anyways. Am I doing it wrong - seriously, boiling things seems pretty straightforward.... but what is the deal? We have city water.

Your water is either super hard or super soft.

Looks odd but it's harmless.

We get this using the dishwasher on the "sanitize" setting too.

I'm going to assume its hard water. Because when I used to boil parts I'd get the white film. We got a water softener a few months ago and no more white stuff.
