Hair Cut RE: smelly hair (NBR)

So I went and got my hair cut the other day. I just needed a trim so I went to a cheap in and out place at the mall. I went in with my hair wet so they didn't have to wash my hair or spray it. All I got was a trim and my layers fixed and she asked if I wanted my hair dried. I said sure and she took over a half an hour to blow dry it (mind you my hair is a bit longer than shoulder length). When she was blow drying it she put no product in and it was making an incredible amount of smoke/steam when she was doing it.

That day & the next my hair smelled funny but nothing more than just the salon type smells. Today I washed my hair for the first time since getting it cut and the smell almost had me puking. I have this rotten egg/sulfur smell emanating from my hair, even after I washed and conditioned it. 

At first I thought it might have been our water since we get city water but then I smelled my hair & gagged. wtf. 

I have never had any smell like that from my hair, even after having it permed it wasn't this bad. I can even smell it through the towel it is in right now.

I can't think of any reason why it would smell so bad. Has anyone ever had such a terrible smell? Or know what it is/how to get rid of it? 

I'm supposed to go out to lunch with some friends and I don't want to be reeking of this terrible smell.
