I'm starting to research potty training for DS (hope to start this spring/summer) and am interested in learning which method is best: portable "on the floor" potty, or attached to the big toilet potty?
Can you recommend the potty YOU used, and what you thought about it?
TIA!
Re: Recommend your Potty Training Seat!
You may have to try both as your DS may prefer one or the other. I tried the potty on the floor first with DS and he hated it and refused to use it. Potty training was much easier when I bought the seat that sits on top of the toilet. DD preferred the potty on the floor though. Some of the ones that sit on the floor have a removable seat that you can put on the toilet. It may be worth it to buy one of those so if your DS doesn't like it on the floor you can just put the seat on the toilet.
We have all three versions (the trainer that goes on the toilet, the mini travel one and the slightly larger one that sits on the floor with the insert that can be emptied), in white, from Baby Bjorn. They are simple, easy to use, no bells and whistles. Also easy to clean. I recommend them.
ETA: We started with this one: https://www.target.com/p/BABYBJORN-Potty-Chair/-/A-13890322?ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001&AFID=Google_PLA_df&LNM=|13890322&CPNG=baby&ci_sku=13890322&ci_gpa=pla&ci_kw=
And then added the other two as needed. Since we have more than one kid, I don't mind having multiple versions because I know they'll all get used. The small travel one is handy for the car or vacations.
We have three also. We have the Baby Bjorn small potty which DD seems to really like. I like that it is easy to clean - not a lot of nooks and crannies for germs to hide in.
We also have the cheap ring seat that fits on the toilet. Some kids don't like using the big toilet, but DD has never had a problem. In fact, she loves using it so she can flush. I like the fact that there is less clean up with that potty. However, unless you have a potty that only your LO will be using you will have to keep moving the ring and LOs don't give you too much advanced warning at first when they have to go to the bathroom.
We also have the Cool Gear Travel Potty. I love that it is small and that can be a potty ring or a stand alone potty for when there is no potty around. It is good for traveling.
I am glad we got all three.
