Booster seats

What do you recommend ? I want the one with the back and a decent side headrest so when Cam falls asleep.

Thanks :)

Re: Booster seats

  • We bought the Britax Frontier, but haven't used it much yet.  It's only in DH's car right now and we don't use his car much for the kids because I'm trying to keep DS1 rear-facing until he's at least 2. The one or two times he's been in it, though, he's liked it!

  • We have a Graco High Back Turbobooster. It is one that only uses the car's seatbelt. Sara likes it and has fallen asleep several times in it.

  • Graco Nautilus!!  Love it!!

We got it after our accident and it can turn in to a backless booster when you need it but offers good head protection, and a place to rest your head if they fall asleep.  Alex LOVES it.  Plus it has a cupholder for your Starbucks.  :)

  • If by booster seat you mean one that only uses the seat belt. We have Graco turbo booster high back. They are all pretty much plastic covered in cloth, but some of the Graco ones have an extra removable head & lumbar pillow. Z sleeps in her's all the time. I believe they are around $80.

Graco Nautilus is a good 5 pt harness up to 65 lbs (with the cars seat belt used to secure the carseat.) It is a very heavy and solid seat. It will also convert to a traditional booster with high back or no back (that just uses the seat belt). It also has some "recline" adjustment (which tilts the seat back a little more) that would make it more comfortable angle for sleeping. Sometimes you can find them on sale find them on sale for the $130s.

FYI: The Britax Frontier is for use in kids who are at least 2 years old (and 25 lbs).

We have two Britax Frontiers and really like them.  I got them on deep discount from Amazon at two different times over the last six months.  They were not cheap by any means but we hope they are the last seats DS will need.  We are using them now as harnessed seats (5 pt) and intend to keep it that way until DS reaches the max weight or height of the harness at which point he'll use it with a seat belt (hopefully not before he's 6).

We looked at the Graco but it's height and weight limits wouldn't accomodate my bigger than average kid in a harness much longer and it's just not a safe option for him given his age/size.  But for average sized kids, it sounds like it is a good option.

  • We have the Graco High back turbo booster and we are fine with it, works well with the seat belt and does not take up a ton of room/isn't hard to move.

This is the one we have, it about $50.00 .

  • imagewe have the recaro prosport. it goes from a 5 point harness with LATCH to a backless booster.

  • Another recommendation for the Nautilus here!  It was hard for me to not choose the Frontier, simply because we have loved our Boulevards in an almost abnormal way.  In the end I'd heard so much praise for the Nautilus that I started swaying  heavily in that direction, then the lower price point pushed us a little more and finally a black friday sale for $99 and the fact that we needed one for my car and my mom's car (she just moved to town and while have the boys a ton) sealed the deal.

We could not be happier with our purchase.  Both of my boys love it, in fact Cooper is quite grumpy that he is not yet a big enough boy to need a new carseat and is way jealous of brother's cupholderSmile.  It was an easy install, easy to adjust the straps.  The only complaint I had was the crotch strap was difficult to figure out how to adjust and I've heard some people say that certain version do not have more than 1 thread point for the crotch.  Only 1 thread point on the crotch, even with it "let out" would have been difficult for Andrew now so I certainly can't imagine how it would work on a kid up to 85 pounds.

If you choose it, I know that Allbebaby has some on sale.$140

There's no reason for the 2 year minimum other than the fact that they are trying to push the recommendation for rear facing until 2.  he meets the other requirements for the seat (height/weight).
