During a real life discussion it came up... ALL babies are cute because they are yours, they are little and snuggly and all of that. Yada yada yada.
But objectively, were they cute by Ye Olde Standard Definition of Cute? There are kids on here that I can think of that were some stunning babies. My nephew is model-gorgeous and his sister probably will be, too.
Mine weren't Gerber baby cute. DS usually looked like a worried little old man and DD looked like Winston Churchill. They were LOADED with personality, though. LOL

Re: OK, be honest here. Were your kids cute as newborns/infants?

I think TB was, right from the get go. AM was OK, too. Both were c/s so no conehead. But then they both sort of... stopped being so cute (based on retrospect of the photos... at the time, I thought they were adorable). Both had really bad acne. But TB became a stunner around 4 mos (based on photos).
It took ML about a week, and only if you disregard the crazy straggly bag lady hair. But the it seemed she remained cute and just kept getting cuter. I have photos of her at 1, 2 months, and man, she was really cute.
I think mine were pretty cute babies. This post made me go back and look, lol. Here they are at just over 2 months old. DS:
As a newborn, DS was not cute. He literally looked like a grumpy old man. But he shortly grew into his cuteness. Newborn:

I don't think babies are very cute, in general. They don't really get cute until about 9 or 10 months old.
As far as newborns go, DS was a pretty baby. He had clear skin and his face wasn't swollen or smushed or anything. He had this full mouth and bright eyes.
Poor DD. She didn't get cute for awhile. Her face was red and she had a stork bite on her eyelid that glowed when she cried. She had all these neck rolls and she drooled and spit up so much that she always had a rash. But she was an adorable toddler and is a very pretty little girl
Funny you mention this, the DH and I were just looking through baby photos the other night for some reason, and commented on this. At the time, I probably didn't realize (because she's always my gorgeous baby, no matter her age)... but I noticed when looking through photos.
My daughter was a beautiful newborn, beautiful.
But around 2-6 months (said with a little guilt) she was NOT the cutest baby on the block. She looked like a little old man or something. Her face was CHUBBY, and the rest of her was really small and strange. She just looked a bit.. funny, lol! But around 6 months or so, she got super cuuuuuute again
DS1 was pimply but cute as a newborn, when thru an ugly phase from 2 - 6 months, and then got cute again. DS 2 was always cute. He looked like a doll when we was a newborn.

The thing with newborns (like under 2 weeks old) is when they are awake, they are totally akward looking. They are squirming around with their mouth open or they are screaming their head off or they are cross eyed. But when they are sleeping they are beautiful.
I think both of mine were pretty cute as newborns, but I have some awful pictures of them when they are doing one of the above, too. They both had really nice skin. R had a bit of a conehead when she was born, but it was gone by the time we came home from the hospital.
I know Scarlett was a beautiful newborn b/c you even told me so, Lari!
I know you wouldn't blow smoke up my ass!
I thought both of my kids were beautiful as babies - Scarlett maybe a little more so b/c she wasn't a total fat bastard like Jackson was. She just had such a delicate and petite look to her that was very pretty. I think she still does - very petite little features.
Yes, they were both beautiful babies at birth: no real head moulding/conehead thing going on, tiny, clear skin, etc.
But that was short-lived. They then both went through bout with baby acne and dry skin. After that they had nasty cradle cap (in ds' case the cradle cap was creeping down his forehead and into his eyebrows, LOL.)
Once they got through that phase they were both cute babies again though- as long as you kept a hat on their head. They both lost clumps of baby hair and their heads were all patchy looking and covered in cradle cap. With a hat to cover it up though they were super cute babies. ;-)
No kidding. She is super cute!
DD has always been beautiful.
DS has always been cute. He was a little funny looking around two months but to me he always looked like the boy version of DD so I always thought he was adorable. Both my kids had pretty funny hair as newborns and babies though (it was kind of sparse on the sides but full/long on top and would stick straight up).
I do kinda feel bad for DS because we get comments like "your son is cute BUT your daughter is..." on a daily basis.
I think if he was a girl; he would have a complex.
Yes! Both of them were cute as newborns and infants.
It's totally possible I'm biased, though.

Being super honest -- DD2 was, yes. Adorable from day one. We have some awesome baby pictures of her.
DD1 ... I *thought* she was beautiful from day one. But when I go back and look at her pics now, I laugh at how weird she looked in those first few months. Her hair was uncontrollable and looked like a really bad combover, it was so fine that it looked greasy 15 minutes after a bath, and she had some minor skin issues.
But the important thing is that she was beautiful to me at the time.
She got cute very quickly, and has turned into a lovely toddler/preschooler.

Joey - not so much. He had a rather large head and his eyes always looked a bit goofy to me. I mean, *I* thought he was cute but by a standard definition, probably not.
Cam - gorgeous! Day one -- gorgeous! Of course, I might be a little biased!
Sam was large all the way around as a newborn and pretty bald. I would say he was cute, but not a gorgeous newborn
Max was cuter as a newborn. He was not as big and had ever so slightly more hair.
Now, as infants, I think they were both gorgeous. They looked identical too when you compare side by side pics.
Alex - not as a newborn. His head looked sort of football shaped, like Stewie from Family Guy. But he grew into being a very cute baby with wide eyes and a surprised sort of look that was adorable.
Avery - no. She was cute, but not stunningly cute in a way that ever made others (who weren't relatives) comment on it.
Adam - absolutely. Minus about 2 weeks when he was covered in baby acne, he was a beautiful baby from the time he was born. He never really had much of a newborn look, though, because he was born at 10 pounds and 41 weeks.
I think mine were.
My son looked like a lizard when he was born. And it got worse as he filled out. I would go so far as to say he was "not aestetically pleasing" until he was about 9 months old. That's him in my siggy. I would say he's pretty cute now. And believe me, he is about a million times more beautiful on the inside than he is on the out. His person just sparkles.
DS#1 was a beautiful baby. He did go through an awkward chubby stage, but generally he was a good-looking kid. At least I thought so.
DS#2 looked like a little old man when he was born. I was in shock. He looked so different from DS#1. And he sucked his lower lip in. It was so funny. But I think he is much better looking now. : ) And actually I love the newborn photos the photographer took and absolutely fell in love, but it took me a little longer, I will be honest.
Ds1 was not an attractive baby. I don't think he started getting cute until one. Ds2 was really cute (after his malformed head sprung back after birth). Dd was, IMO, gorgeous. I work with lots and lots of babies for my job and I think she's one of the cutest babies I've seen. She was pretty awkward for a couple months early on, though.
I think all my kids are gorgeous now. H and I comment to each other all the time about how cute our kids are. We're vain like that.
Ditto this exactly. LO's as newborns were not that cute and I didn't lie to myself about it either. I knew that they would grow into their beauty sooner or later. I'm glad it came sooner though!
