My boys are 13mo and we have transitioned from infant tub to blow up tub and now to bath seats. Well, we've run into a problem- no one wants to stay seated anymore! (surprise)
If you bathe your children together, at what age did you just let them have free reign of the tub? Do you just use a non-slip mat on the tub floor?
Re: for those who bathe their LOs together
We just recently stopped with the seats too. We have a large no-slip mat but everyone still wants to stand up. Frustrating, but we keep sotting them back down. If they refuse after several attempts, bath time is over. Fortunately they sit long enough initially to get them clean. Then they get rowdy. It's been tough but for a little while they just splash and laugh.
we STILL use seats. DH does bath time and he wants to keep using them- though i think it's silly to still use them... but he likes that it keeps Gray in one spot - and Gibby actually WANTS to use it - the other night he was crying when DH had not put the front of the seat on - i think it makes him feel secure in the water. (they are 2.5yo)
yeah we had/have that problem. we just were/are diligent about telling them to sit back down (at that age you physically have to sit them down). They got a warning and if they did it again they were evacuated from tub. at 13 months its a hard concept to grasp and some baths only lasted 5 minutes but they know now that they sit down or they are out.
So for that reason I soap them up as soon as they get in and then they can play. Playtime lasts as long as they follow the rules.
