Pregnant after 35

Just started a new prenatal...anyone use this?

Its called citra-natal B calm?? It says it has additional B6 to help my nausea  I just picked up a few samples to try but I dont know if I should wait until tonight to take it before bed or if I should just pop it in now.  My previous prenatal was really kicking up my stomach in the morning, so my OB thinks this might help.  Has anyone tried this, or the B6 for nausea?  I NEVER felt this sick with my first kid, so this is a totally different experience!  Thanks!

  • Are those the ones that come with the separate B6 pill that you're supposed to take every 6-8 hours (or some other timed interval like that)? If so, I did but I also had severe hypermesis that even Zofran and Phenergan couldn't touch so, in my case, I think the B6 was the equivalent of trying to put out a house fire with a squirt gun. On the plus side, it didn't seem to make me any sicker than I already was and, at that point, that was pretty good.

Have you also tried taking your vitamin later in the day or in the evening? I was viciously sick all the way to my 6th month but, even now, going into my 8th when I've finally started feeling better for the most part, I still take the vitamin in the evenings because the they're just too much on my morning stomach.

  • Yes, That's the pill, I have to take one every 8 hours.  I was taking my previous prenatal right before bed.  On top of just waking up with the nausea, my stomach felt like tight knots and crampy.  Eating didnt help it too much.  I forgot to take that prenatal over the new years weekend, and I realized that I was still waking up woozy, but the knots were gone.  I'm glad that you are getting some relief now!
  • I have to admit, I had a heck of a time with the every 8 hour thing, too.  I can barely remember to take ONE vitamin a day, let alone several!

I hope they work out well for you in the nausea department. After such a long period of nausea and vomiting on my end, I have a new sympathy for everyone suffering like that. Good luck!

  • I struggled with almost every prenatal. Some made me pray to the porcelain god, and others had a stool softner that left me cramping and bloated. In the end, I did a double dose of Flintstones. I take one complete and one calcium. They're cheaper, too!
  • I don't take that vitamin, but I do take 100mg of B6 a day to help with nausea.  I won't see the B6 makes relieves all the nausea, but it does help take the edge off and I feel better when I take it,

  • I actually do take Citra-Natal. I think it's the same one. It doesn't bother my stomach any but I did notice a couple of days ago that it contains a stool softener. That explained alot.
