Moms with LO who have reflux..

Lately my little guy has started gagging and coughing in his sleep and this week he has started crying pretty hard in his sleep. I assumed the crying was due to what may be gas? I can hear his tummy is bubbly.

In researching online, it looks like the coughing/gagging may be reflux but he does not spit up usually at all unless we didn't burp him well. I don't know if this is something that should be treated or not but I'd hate to think he may be in pain. If you have a child on meds for reflux, what were the signs/symptoms? Was there any testing done to confirm the reflux diagnosis? We see the Dr on tomorrow so I will get to talk to her about it then but was just wondering what other moms have seen.

My pedi said the two things that she worried most about with Lainey's symptoms were the arching of her back and fighting the bottle - she wasn't concerned with the gagging while sleeping or eating. Lainey has silent reflux, though, so she doesn't spit up which is also a major symptom. There weren't any tests done, we were just given an rx for Zantac and to call if it didn't help within a week. It did and she's a super happy baby now. I'd just bring up the symptoms at your pedi appointment and see what your doc says. Do you use gas drops or do bicycle legs? Those are helpful if it's gas. I have to help Lainey toot sometimes, she's not great at it on her own

DD was arching her back and craning her head back, clawing at the crib mattress, gasps, gags, projectile vomits, grunts while eating, low appetite and rubs her face and chest. We tried Zantac and it worked for 2 weeks and then stopped. We are now on Prevacid in the morning, Zantac before bed and switched to Similac Alimentum. She is doing pretty well. Much better since switching to Alimentum 3 days ago.

Rebekah was arching her back, rubbing her nose really hard, spitting up, crying and grunting while feeding. She is on Zantac now but I think it's not as effective as it once was. We go back on Friday, so we will see. They did no tests, just listened to the symptoms. Rebekah is formula fed with one bottle of breast milk a day. She gets the Zantac three times a day. Hope you get some results!

Not sure I can be helpful, but he sounds a lot like Lily lately. I'm planning on talking to the pedi about it at her 2 month appointment. Hope your little guy's appt goes well and that he finds relief soon!
