What do you consider CD1? Likely TMI

Hi ladies - I don't make my own posts too often around here but I do lurk and occasionally chime in on someone's post.  Hope it is okay to ask a TMI question since I am not sure I'd be considered a 'regular poster' --

Anywho, what do you call consider CD1?  TMI alert***  I've had dark brown blood on the toilet paper for 2 days (very light, and only sometimes) and I'm positive it is the start of AF and not implantation bleeding.  Would you consider that CD1 or would you wait until you have regular red flow to consider it CD1?

Thanks for the help!!

  • First day of red flow.  So no... you're not at CD1 yet.

  • First, no such thing as TMI on this board.

Sounds like you're spotting. I'd mark it as spotting and wait for the first full day that you need a tampon or pad for CD1. I'll also add that, as Rizza correctly told you, it's usually stated as the first day of red flow. Some of us don't always get bright red flow, so--if you're in that category with me--it's more about the amount than the color.

  • Nothing, and I mean, nothing is TMI here.

I saw spotting only when sticking toilet paper way up there for the past three days. Each day I put down on Fertility Friend that it was "spotting", FF kept me on my old cycle.  When I saw flow on my pad this morning, I put down "Light" in FF and it deemed me on CD1.

    If you're not on FF...join! It's a big help.

Thanks! I am on FF I just was not sure what to put the flow down as...spotting, light, leave it blank, etc.  Thanks for the tip on how to enter it in - I'll do it as spotting and let FF move me to a new cycle when I put in 'light.'

  • CD1 = first day of red flow.  Also, unless you're posting pictures of your CM dripping from your fingers, there's no such thing as TMI here. ;)

    eww...that made me lol!

Another vote for first day of red=CD1.  I'll get some very slight brownish spotting for a day or 2 before AF, I don't count that.

  • Red flow, even if it just stays on the toilet paper.  Brown is considered old blood and spotting.  For example, when I use my FF, if I enter in spotting, it won't change the cycle day.  Only when I enter in "light," and red would be considered light.

    I love my rainbow baby!

  • I had red spotting a few days ago, and then I had brown flow (really a nice dark red/brown) and counted that as CD1.

I figure, if you need a pad or tampon- it is a flow.
