April 2012 Moms

When will you TTC again?

Before I was ever pregnant I always pictured having my kids really close together. After finding out I had PCOS and that pregnancy might not come easy for me (we REALLY lucked out this time) that might not be possible. But even if it is possible, I'm not so sure I'm ready to be pregnant again anytime soon, although I still like the idea of having babies close in age.

When do you think you will try for another baby?

Re: When will you TTC again?

  • We would like about 2 years between children so summer 2013 is when we would start trying again.

  • NEVER!  I'M DONE!  KITCHEN IS CLOSED!

I had a doctor (one I work with, not a provider) talk to me today and tell me I needed to have another baby after this because I "needed" to have a boy because there are some things a man needs to pass on to a son and can't pass on to a daughter.

    What a jerk.

  • Never -- we are done w biological children.

When the boys are 4 or 5 we're going to reevaluate and see if we want to adopt a 3rd child.

  • I'm not sure. We may stick with one kid, though, I think I want 2. I was thinking I'd want them close to the same age, but my H thinks he'll have really bad empty nest syndrome, so he thinks if we do a second child, we should wait until our first is older.

Ew. As if your next child is even guaranteed to be a boy? People suck.

  • I'm not sure if we will have another LO, but I would wait until DD2 is at least 1+ to even think about having a third.

  • Never! Party!!!  But, #1 and #2 were 21 mos apart (got PG with #2 when #1 was 13 mos old).  I survived and I wouldn't change a thing now, BUT, #2 was by far my hardest PG mentally and physically b/c I had a toddler at home and having a 1 and 3 y/o almost killed me.  It's great that they're close in age, enjoy the same things and can play with the same friends, but it really took a toll on my marriage to have kids that close in age.  This time around has been SO much better (although we didn't plan a gap quite this big either).

  • Well since we never TTC in the first place I am making no plans.
i wish i could be joking but my dad is the music teacher at a church so he owuld be mad. we had sex, all the time how bad i know but we dont want to wait and he said GREAT OH KAY! and I was really feeling the wets? down there- too embarsed to say- but he acted like man.
  • We will be two and through so...never! I used to want 3 (we both come from families of 3) but man, after having one we've definitely rethought that.
  • Spring/Summer of 2013....but if it happens before it happens before and we are prepared for another one.

  • These will be almost exactly 3 years apart. The further along I get, the more convinced I am that this will be our last one.

  • I think 2u2 may do me in!  We had planned on having 2.5-3 years between our kids, but our surprise LO#2 will put just 16 months between kiddos.  If we decide to have a third, I really can't see us TTC before this baby is 2.  I'm going with the Mirena this time.  I'll "take charge of my fertility" later! :)

  • I'm probably done. 3 is it. I got my 2 healthy boys, waiting on my healthy girl. That's it for me. It took us over a year and a half to get pg with this one, with a miscarriage in the middle. And this pregnancy has been far more stressful for me with having had complications with DS2. I think it's time to just enjoy my kids growing up! I'm 31, DH is going to be 36 when this baby comes... so I think he wants to be done. He thinks he's old Confused

  • As of now I think as soon as medically "safe" - what is that, about 1.5-2 years after LO is born? This pregnancy has been such a blessing and I am enjoying it more than I thought I ever would (I know I know...last tri left could change my mind...and so could delivery for that matter).  I would like my children close in age and am not sure if we will want 1 or 2 more, if I am fortunate enough to be able to make that choice.

My OB told me 9months, but a year is ideal.

  • Right now we have DS who will be 3.5 when this LO arrives, and I am still open to a third (and final) but since this LO took 10 months with fertility help it makes me nervous to have to possibly deal with that again to try for a third.  Plus I would want 2 -2.5 years minimum between #s 2&3 and I am not getting any younger.  Time will tell....

  • Both DH and I are from families of 6 kids, so we'be always wanted to have a big family, but the more I think about it, the more I wonder how the hell my mom did it! 4 would be nice- but this is my first, so I'm thinking I might wait until I see what having a baby is really like before I get set on anything. So after this one, I'm guessing we'd try to have a two year difference, putting us at trying in the summer of 13 .

  • We were talking about this over the weekend. I will be 37 when I deliver and this is our first baby. We had always said 1 and done, but now I am not 100% on that decision. My age is a factor obviously and it took almost 2 years for this pregnancy to happen. Ideally, I would like to wait 2-3 years but.... So, realistically this is our only because at this moment I cannot say I want another one right away.

DH will have 2 years after the twins come, so we won't even consider it until he graduates and we move into a house.. If we have trouble getting preg again, not sure we'll do Clomid again (not wanting to increase the chances of twins again LOL). But we're both open to adoption if need be.

  • We might be done after one.  I cannot imagine how we would pay for 2 in daycare unless we moved somewhere with a lower cost of living, and I am not ready to give up living in the city yet.  My H is in his mid-late 30's and I dont know if he wants to have another child when he is nearly 40.

I am an only child, and I really enjoyed it, so I have no problem only having one.

  • Depending on how long it takes me to heal from this little fellow, I would like to start trying in August/September/October of this year so they are close in age.

  • We're pretty laid back and we don't believe in hormonal birth control. We're planning on just not preventing until we feel done and then it's vasectomy time.

It took us about 18 months to get pregnant with this one. That sounds lovely to me for the next one, but whatever happens, happens.

  • We are done after this baby! This is my second baby!

  • Not until the kid is at least 2, possibly longer. Possibly never! ha.
  • I think a 2 year gap is good, but we'll see. i am not ready to be pregnant again any time soon, and the thought of being pregnant while having to run around after a toddler fills me with terror.

We want two kids for sure, 3 is a slight possibility I suppose. I am from a family of 7 kids which I love but goodness I don't know HOW my mother did it!

  • DD #1 was 18 months when we got PG with DD #2....they will be 2 years 3 months apart.....I'm hoping this will be perfect (so to speak).....this is our last......2 kids were both DH and my limit!  We feel blessed to have 1 DD already as well as DD #2 on the way......healthy is all we are asking for.......not trying for a boy (like sooo many keep suggesting..."just go for 3,try and get that boy".....no thanks!)

  • Ideally I want to wait until this one is at least 2. I am a little nervous though because it took us almost 3 years to get this one. But on the other hand I have a fear of getting pregnant when this one is like 3 months old, that happened to my mom.

  • We definitely want two, maybe three.  That being said, I'm 33 now.  I'd like to wait until this one is at least 18 months, maybe 2 years to TTC again, but not earlier.  I had a friend who had a baby, TTCed shortly after the birth and wound up pregnant with twins.  She had 3 under 2 and that is not something that seems remotely fun.  I don't want 2 under 2.  That just seems like a whole lot of work.

  • Not quite sure. We think we want two, but want to get through this pregnancy first. If we do want two, then we will wait until this LO is at least 2 or 3.

  • I have PCOS and getting PG this time without even really TTC was a true blessing, so I'm not sure how we will proceed the next time. We definitely would like at least one more so this LO is not an only child, but I must confess I'm not psyched about going off the pill again because my skin has been a nasty wreck this whole pregnancy. I would like to wait at least 2 years I think before going off BCP.

  • DH and I always planned on having two but now we are reconsidering not trying for another. We have been so blessed with having an easy pregnancy and healthy baby so far that we don't want to risk it with another. It took us 18 months of actively trying (temping every morning, eventually going on Clomid) and that is just an emotional rollarcoaster I don't ever want to go through again.

If we do decide to have another, I imagine we will start trying when Emmy is a year old.
