2nd Time Moms: Feeling Different? (& my reintroduction)

Hello 1st Tri!

Quick re-introduction: I'm an old Bumpie coming back for my 2nd pregnancy. I have a daughter that will be 2 in March and I just got my BFP yesterday.

Quick questions for 2nd time moms:
Did you feel the same symptoms with the second one as you do did with your first? With DD I felt symptoms before I even knew I was pregnant. With this one, the only real symptom I have is that I missed my period. I have slighty tender boobs and I'm a little more tired than normal, but no where near where I was with DD.

Thoughts?

  • My symptoms are worse. I never had nausea with my son's pregnancy, and I have it daily with this one. I'm also far more exhausted, emotional, and I have to pee ALL THE TIME. Every pregnancy is different. I'm trying to go with the flow, but the hormones make that more of a challenge.

  • Congrats! How far along are you?

I feel nothing this time around - also just slightly tender boobs, but really nothing else. I was never sick with DS, but I remember feeling more tired and just a bit "off." Hopefully, we are just the "lucky ones."

  • With my first I had hardly any symptoms, I had heartburn that was about it. Now with this second pregnancy Im nausea's, tired, and everytime I take off my bra my boobs are so sore!

  • Missing AF with cramps is what drove me to test.

Otherwise I have mild nausea and sensitive nipples, nothing much else aside from twinges when I do a whole body stretch.

  • With ds I didn't really have any symptoms. With this one I'm a little nauseated and exhausted but thankful because I know it could be worse!

  • my 2nd child- I knew I was pregnant - the third I know this one - we were ttc and I didn't think we were just as I had no symptoms.  But I am poas addict - so I tested at 8 dpo onward.

  • The only symptom I have right now is sore boobs.  With DS I was peeing all the time, and feeling nauseous.  It's still early for me though, so I am expecting the m/ s to start anytime.

  • PG #1 (girl): Nothing but an adversion to chicken and very sore boobs

#2 (boy): Would feel slightly nauseous if I didn't eat every couple hours, horrific bloating

#3 (??): Rapid weight gain, no nausea unless I'm in the middle of eating something that my body doesn't want, sore nipples only. Very full breasts. Convinced I have a girl.

  • Hi and welcome!

Sorry I can't answer your questions as I don't have any symptoms yet.  It's still early.  How far along are you?

  • Thanks, ladies!  (k.martell - I think we were on the boards together for our last babies. I recognize your name)

It's crazy how each pregnancy can be so different.

With DD, I had symptoms before I even missed my period. I was exhausted, taking 2 hour naps every day (man, I miss that). I had horrible headaches and nausea. It wasn't until after getting my BFP the day I missed my period that I realized those were actually pregnancy symptoms.

With this pregnancy, I didn't even get my BFP until almost a week after AF was scheduled to come. That's totally not normal for me. I took 2 tests after I missed and both were negative. I have tender boobs, a little exhaustion, occasional nausea (very minimal), and some pain/stretching in my ute.

I can't help but be a bit apprehensive. Who knows, maybe this means it's a boy ;) haha

  • I didn't have any symptoms last time other than a missed period.  This time I'm tired as hell, cramps that don't seems to ever want to go away, diarrhea, nausea that comes and goes and I already have heartburn.  Last pregnancy was completely uneventful, this time seems to want to switch things up haha.

Oh, I also gained weight  like a mofo last pregnancy.  By this time with DD I had already gained like 5 lbs because I was just soooo hungry all the time.  This time I have t gained anything yet.

  • Hello and congrats! This will be #3 for me. I had little to no nausea with DS1 and except for fatigue no real symptoms, with DS2 I was definitely more nauseous and I actually vomitted twice. Made me think it was a girl (but definitely wrong). I'm too early to really have symptoms yet. I've had bad headaches the past few days and very slight waves of nausea. I read that it is common for the symptoms to become more pronounced with each pregnancy. But obviously not true for everyone.

  • hey there.  i didn't really have m/s last time around at all, but i had bacne like nobody's business before i even tested.  this time i don't have any, which is freaking me out a little, but i have started to pee a little when i cough, which is also freaking me out, because i didn't have that at all throughout the whole pregnancy last time and i thought that was something that would come way later.  hoping that doesn't last the whole time!  oh, and i've had some pretty bad headaches this time around.  but i'm still really early.  who knows what's to come.

  • Yes, it's different.  The nausea is worse, food aversions are different, I have no cravings this time, I'm able to better deal with the sore boobs this time, maybe because I was more prepared, and I have headaches this time which I don't remember last time.  Bloating and constipation are about the same.

  • My sense of smell is out of control this time. I don't remember it being this sensitive with DD.
