Parenting after a Loss

How many NB diapers will I need?

I'm planning ahead for DD, who will arrive in in March.  I have a good coupon for an economy size box of Pampers & I'm debating whether to buy NB or size 1.  (My coupon will expire soon, otherwise I'd wait until she's here to determine the right size.)  I already have a "starter pack" of 84 NB diapers.

FYI - DS was 8.5 lbs. at birth & I imagine DD will weigh in a little lighter, but in the same ball park.

Thanks!

  • We started in 1-2s (Kirkland doesn't have straight 1s, and dd was 9 lb10oz). I'd say buy the 1s since she'll grow into them where's the NBs she'll out grow.

  • We used NBs for over a month.  But, it's not like DD will never fit into size 1's, so if you have the storage space for them, I'd buy size 1's.  We bought NB a pack at a time assuming we'd be out of them quick.  I'm not sure they sell the BIG boxes of NBs- I never saw any.

  • We used NBs for her first month, but could have used them longer.  1s were pretty big on her but worked.  I didn't want to buy more NB diapers bc I thought she would grow out of them pretty soon, so we just moved up when I ran out of NB.

We had the small pack from the hospital, and then I think a 40 count, and 100 count.

  • We used NB for 8 weeks but our guy was 6lb1z and had just hit 8 or 9 lbs at 8 weeks.  Your son was pretty big so I'd say go for the size 1 in the economy pack. You can always get more smaller packs of NB later.

  • My DS was 8lb 13oz and he was in NB diapers for 2 wks only.  I think I went through 2 big size boxes of pampers (they have a little less than 200 diapes in them). I changed diapers very frequently.  Sometimes twice an hour since he was fussy.

  • We used newborn for 3 or 4 weeks. His one month growth spurt was insane though.

I swiped a lot of our NB diapers from the hospital. Angel

  • DD was 8 lb 1 oz at birth. We had a few packs of swaddlers from the hospital and one box from the store. It was the big case size. After that we switched to size 1.
