What names do you use for Grandparents?

We currently have 3 Grandmas and 3 Grandpas. I would like to only have my parents called Grandma and Grandpa so it is less confusing. DH's parents are first time grandparents, divorced and both remarried. I also really dislike the idea of using their first name like Grandpa Gregg. Looking for ideas of what names you use.

DH calls his dad's parents Busia and DziaDzia, which we would love to use, but she is still alive and I expect LO to call her Busia as well.

I think I'm in the minority, but I really dislike cutesy names for grandparents. I just can't get on board with Pop Pop or similar. Growing up, I just called my grandparents "Grandma and Grandpa" with no issues even though I had two sets. That is what my kids use, but if there is any confusion between my ILs and my mom, they call my mom "Grandma Nancy," which she likes. I know that doesn't help you, though.

Have you asked them what they prefer to be called?

My DD calls my dad "bapa" and my mom "nana". She calls STBXH's parents "grammy" and "papa Nick".

My mom is Gigi and my dad is Papa. My MIL is Nana and my FIL is Grandpa Skip (Skip is his nickname).

ETA: I called my grandmothers Meemaw and Meemaw Carolyn growing up. Meemaw is a very southern thing, though.

We have 8 grandparents! Both my husband and my parents all remarried.

Grandma & Grandpa for my bio parents. My Dad's wife is Abuela because she is from Venezuela & that is Spanish for grandma.

My husband's dad is Grandy because his name is Randy & someone labeled him that and we thought it was brilliant. Everyone else is up in the air still. Pops, Grumps, are two grandpa contenders. The best I could come up w/ for my MIL was Grandma-ri. Her name is Maria and she was jealous of Grandy. But that seems kind of hard for a little kid.

One of my favorite is Steppa for step grandpa. I got that from the book Room A novel.

When I was little, both sets of grandparents were grandma and grandpa. So, to eliminate confusion, they were Grandma <last name> and Grandpa <last name>; no first names.

My DH grew up with both sets of grandparents being Nana and Papa. So, our kids now have one set of grandma/grandpa (my parents), and one set of Nana/Papa (DHs parents).

Currently we call my mom "tiny grandma" and dh's mom "big grandma." My two year old came up with it and even when we tried Grandma S or Grandma Marilyn, we still got "big grandma." (she's a lot taller than my mom)

We call my dad "grandpa with beard" and dh's dad "grandpa no beard" or "grandpa donut" (which FIL is pushing). FIL was pushing being called bumpa because that's what his BIL is called...we said that ds would call him whatever he could pronounce, and bumpa is harder than grandpa.

DH's parents are Grammy and Poppy (it's what C's 4yr old cousin began calling them, so all grandkids will be using those). C is the first grandchild for my side of the family. We've been calling my parents Pops and Babci (pronounced bab-chi, Polish for grandmother), but who knows what C will actually decide to call them.

When my grandma was alive, she was called Baba (Russian) by her great-grandchildren.

My cousins on the other side of my family use Oma and Opa (Dutch)

My kids call both sets of grandparents Grandma (name) and Grandpa (name). Their first name distinguishes them from the other grandma/grandpa.

My dad and DH's mom are LOs only granparents, my grandma and DH's grandma are also very active in LO's like, for now we just call MIL, and both our grandmas grandma, and my dad grandpa, to make it less confusing to LO. When he says it its more like "nampa" and "namma", and it works for now

DS has 7 grandparents (4 guys, 4 girls). My parents are grandpa and grandma. The ILs are grand-dad and grandma...as well as their parents. So that is 3 grandmas, 3 grand-dads, and 1 grandpa. He does fine telling them all apart and love them all!

DH's mom is Oma

DH's dad is Opa

DH's mom is German so she picked Oma and Opa. A few weeks ago DH's dad told me he hates the name Opa and that he wants to be called grandpa, I can't wait for his wife to find this out.

Babci is an idea. Busia is the American Polish form of Grandmother that DH calls his grandmother. I like Babci and Pops for DH's dad and stepmom.

My parents are called Grandma and Grandpa, but DD calls my father Pop Pop instead (she just started using it). DH's mom and step-dad are Nana and Papou (sp?), as that is what they chose to be called. DH's father is just Grandpa LastName, But I usually refer to him as Grandpa FirstName.

We have 1 Grandma (MIL), her long time BF is Pop Pop Randy. FIL is Grandpa.

My mom and dad are not in the picture. If they were we would probably use Gram or some other version.

We haven't really come up with official ones for DH's parents because our kids see them so rarely, but my parents are Nana (my mom) and Pop Pop (my dad). DH was joking around that my dad should be called G Pop. It sounds like a hip hop star. My dad is hilarious and if anyone could pull off a name like G Pop, it's him.

I'm Dutch and when we went to Europe when DD was 16 months old she would call my mom and dad amo and apo ( her version of oma and opa just couldn't quite say it right yet). Shortly after we came back she started saying opa and oma correctly. And even though we call DH's parents grandma and grandpa, so far she calls them oma and opa as well. She is 19 months now so we will see if she sticks with that or will switch to grandma and grandpa. My parents will always be oma and opa however...

My parents are Grandma (sometime my nieces call he G-ma), Grandpa (bio dad) and DayDay (step dad... he name is David and it's the nickname I have him when I was a toddler). DH's parents are Nana, Papa (bio dad), Nanny D (step mom), and Papa Frank (step dad). He calls his great-grandparents MawMaw, DaDad, Nan, Grandma (we don't really have another name for my mother's mom so she's also Grandma), and DH doesn't really have a relationship with his father's mother so we just never refer to her.

My parents are Grandpa & Hemma ... My dad was Papi, but I told my dad that some Hispanic girls call their boyfriends that, and he vetoed Papi. though my nephew still calls him that. My H's mom is Grandma. his stepdad before he passed was Papa Tim, I don't remember how that became. My H's dad before he passed was Papa John. My moms parents are HaHa & PaPa... My oldest sister came up with it. My dads parents were just Grandma & Grandpa
