We did not circ DS. We had intended to before having him, but decided against it in the hospital. DH is circ'd and had the procedure done when he was older.
My sister came over the other day and changed DS's diaper. She couldn't believe that we didn't have him circ'd and said it was "gross" if we didn't do it. She also said he would be made fun of in school (which DH did confirm happens, but it still wasn't a strong enough reason for us) Before DH, I was with BF's who weren't circ'd and didn't care or think it was gross (but my sis said she would never be with someone who wasn't circ'd). I really am just not comfortable with removing a part of my son's genitals for cosmetic purposes - I don't think it's my decision to make. If he wants it done when he's older, he can have it done.
Anyway, got me wondering if my kid will be the *only* one not circ'd when he gets older. Did you circ your son?

Re: Circumcision clicky
I don't know why I didn't do this before, but I just looked up National and Provincial circumcision stats for Canada. The data is from 2006/2007, so I wonder if/how things have changed since then.
Nationally, Canada has a circumcision rate of 31 % (way lower than I would have thought). Provincially, there are some provinces/territories that recorded zero circumcision during that year, and the Province with the highest rate (Alberta) is still only 44 %.
Interesting. Not that it matters to me one way or the other (I'm still not having DS circ'd), but I guess I just thought he'd be the odd man out. I guess not.

We did, but I had a mild freak out at the hospital before it was done. Harry wasn't cleared for the procedure until he was 4 days old and I just got really scared b/c he was born early and was in the NICU.
DH really wanted it done and I asked him if he had any animosity towards his parents for making the decision for him (he is circ'd), and he said no, and that he was very glad his parents made that decision for him.
I was still weary of doing it, but we got it done. Harry did great and never seemed to be in any pain so I don't regret it one bit now.

I had a really hard time with the decision too. DH really didn't feel strongly one way or the other, so I felt like it was on me to say "yay or nay". Maybe it was the hormones, but after he was born, I just couldn't give him up to the doctor to have the procedure done.
I guess I just figured that you can't undo a circumcision, so my rationale was better to leave it intact and have DS do what he wants with it. I don't judge anyone who circ's their DS - it's such a personal decision. After all, it was my intention to circ until the eleventh hour.

Ours isn't yet... but probably will be.
Our hospital doesn't do circumcisions - you have to go to their pediatrician - and because of the holidays the earliest appointment we could get was the beginning of January! Originally I thought I'd want him to be circed, but now that we have to wait until he's 3 weeks old and I've thought more about it, I don't want to anymore. DH, however, does, so we're keeping the appointment... but if DS is more than 10 lbs by his appointment they won't do the procedure, so it may be out of our hands.
I guess it's like any medical procedure - sometimes they go smoothly, sometimes they don't. DH was circ'd when we was older (10, I think) as well because of an infection, and he said it was NBD. It didn't traumatize him at all. Sucks that your friend had a bad experience.

We did it. I was on the fence and DH was very pro-circ. I was so worried I stewed about it all night the night before. The procedure wasn't nearly as big of a deal as it is made out to be. In the end, I am so happy with the decision to get it done and will definitely get it done with any future sons if it comes up.
DS got it done at a urology office at 2 weeks old. I wouldn't be comfortable with it if we were not at a specialist.
