Is your LO drinking rice/coconut milk because of food allergy?  Or are you  vegan?  Just curious.  I'm looking more and more at adopting a mostly plant based diet for my LO.  I've been a vegetarian for almost twenty years occasionally eating fish over the last ten.  More and more I find myself avoiding eggs/dairy and I am exploring what that would mean to leave it out of LO's diet altogether.

  • Allergy in our case, but nondairy is totally doable.  Cows milk is a convenient source of fat, protein, calcium, but not the only source.  The rice/coconut blend gets close to the nutritional content.  Other options were almond (but our daycare is nut free) and hemp milk.  I add healthy fats like avocado, olive oil elsewhere in his diet.
