I know a lot of us haven't had our babies yet, but I've been thinking about birth control options! I was on the depo shot until I found out I was pregnant, but don't plan to get back on it after I have the baby. I've been checking out the mirena for post-baby. I am breast feeding, so that eliminates a few options.
Has any one had the mirena? Did you like it?
What is every body else doing for BC after baby is here?

Re: Post-baby BC plans?
Hormonal BC messed up my milk supply with DS#1. I was taking the mini-pill which was supposed to be ok for bfing.
So now we will be using condoms (with spermicide) with pull-out for the next year (since I plan on bfing for at least a year). After a year, I will get on the regular pill for at least 6 months then reassess where we are on our family plans.
I used Mirena after DS and will again after this one. I refuse to go on the pill again and I don't want to risk an accidental pregnancy so I need something reliable. We are pretty sure we are done after this baby but I'm not ready for DH to get snipped.
ETA: I will be BFing as well but that's not a reliable form of BC

I took birth control pills when I was a teenager but it gave me really bad depression so I was taken off them when I was 19. DH and I never used BC once we were married and it took years of actually trying to get pregnant. I'm hoping it won't be so difficult for the next one but since I don't want to go back on the pill we will probably just be using the fertility awareness method.

I wasn't directing that at you
I was throwing that out in general.
You'd be surprised how many women either don't use anything or just pull out because they are BFing and then are *shocked* they are pregnant.

Long term, I want to get an IUD. I'm also planning on BF for at least 6 mo, and I've heard of a few ladies who have supply issues even with an IUD.
For short term, while BF, I'll get back on the pill (that way if it messes with supply it's an easy fix of just not taking it!), and we'll back it up using condoms. This LO was the product of me forgetting like 2 pills in a month.... so I'm a little leery of using just one method
Once I'm done BF, I'll probably end up getting Mirena, or some other IUD after talking over options with my OB.

I refuse to use hormonal birth control so we use condoms & natural family planning. Most of the month can be condom free (although because of my intense fear of having kids too close I usually make him cover up for most of the month until after I ovulate) and I find it very relaxing to go this way!

Started our exploration into the world of international adoption June 2012. We have no idea what this is going to look like but we are excited to find out!
I haven't decided yet. I was on Ortho Evra, the patch, for several years and then stopped when we decided we were ready to concieve. Two and a half years later, we had to resort to insemination to get pg so I don't know if I even *need* to use some type of contraception. Hubby has low count and motility so the chances of us concieving on our own are very low.
I'm guessing we'll just use condoms while I BF and then I might go back on some type of BC if we're not ready to have another.
