Hi! N'13 mom.

Hi Ladies,

Just thought I'd intro before I started participating. I'm a FTM and my DD will be 6 months soon. 

Can you ladies give me some ideas to do with my DD during the day? We read books, sing songs, play with toys, and she plays in her jumper and does tummy time, etc. I would like to do more stuff outside but I live in south Florida and it's just so hot.

Where in south Florida are you? There are tons of museums and indoor stuff to do with her! Welcome!

*Waves at fellow N13' er. I don't know about your area, but our LO's can sometimes be in little baby yoga or baby gymnastics class and it costs little to free. It would be a great way to meet other moms an do something stimulating with your LO. This age is hard bc they are not mobile yet, but are interactive and can reach for things, some can roll, etc.

Get outside. Babies are fine in heat. A walk or swimming will be good for both of you, plus vitamin D and all that.

Yep, at this age a still did a lot of walking around the mall, especially when the weather wasn't great (for me, winter was a problem). Seeing all the people, activity, etc. was really interesting for him. Now he doesn't last long in the stroller at the mall because he tries to get out so he can walk!

I'm an N14 mommy too! I'm looking forward to swimming lessons in June (it's a bit colder here in PA!). Right now we mostly go for walks and run quick errands, at home we practice skills like sitting, standing, and rolling, eating solids and learning about sippy cups in with the play time we have. Baths are a good distraction too. And lots of story time. We try to hit the library as well, but baby/toddler story time is right in the middle of our nap time, so we rarely make that. Oh, and we try and watch the school busses in the morning and afternoon because that's exciting, ha ha.

Hi! Thanks for the suggestions. I haven't thought of watching school busses, or cars or anything like that.

Oh yeah, we have a nice front porch (like I said, it's still pretty yucky here) so it's a great place to sit and watch the world go by! We (and by we, I mean I) count the cars, name the colors, point out exciting things like dump trucks and school buses and all sorts of things. Plus there are some kids that usually play outside across the street when the weather is nice, and he loves watching them too. I never would have thought of it, but we have some friends with older kids who made the suggestion  ;-)  It's amazing the things that are entertaining to their little minds, and I know I forget that the whole world is a new experience for him and exciting.
