Sleeping on the couch...

Tonight...I can not get cool enough...and if I hear another minute of snoring...I am going to tear my hair out!!

The snoring always was annoying but as I get more and more prego...I hate it more and MORE!!

It is because he sleeps on his back...whenever he is on his side (never long enough) it stops....*sigh*

Good thing I have a super amazing huge deep comfortable couch.....my laptop and some episodes of Say Yes To The Dress...will help me win back my sanity!

Anyone else in the same boat? ... a partner who snores? Any solutions?

Re: Sleeping on the couch...

  • Back, side or stomach my husband snores. It is wore when he is on his back. I make sure I go to bed before him. But if I wake up during the night to go to the bathroom (which is often now) it is hard for me to go back to sleep. If I get up and go to guest room or get on our couch no problems going back to sleep. I often go to our couch because it is so comfy. I get some of the best sleep on our couch. Even with a king size bed sometimes I perfer the couch over the bed.

  • My DH doesn't snore, but I'm in the same boat tonight. Hanging out on the couch. I have insomnia horribly.
  • I'm on the couch too.  Sad  Woke up 45 min ago and couldn't get back to sleep.  How is it possible to be hot and cold at the same time?  And the snoring doesn't help.  Now I'm dealing with the dog who is in the middle of her licking her privates routine.  Another 20 minutes of slurping noises...

  • My husband snores like crazy and so does our Boston Terrier lol. Luckily I am still sleeping pretty well. I don't feel the baby at night and it is freezing in South Korea so we sleep without the heat on. When it gets bad I just hit him so he will roll over!

  • Yup, however my hubby was diagnosed with sleep apnea a few years ago (snoring is a symptom) so now he sleeps with a CPAP machine (continuous positive air pressure) so he no longer snores (or stops breathing and choking awake). I got used to the sound of the machine quickly since it's white noise. Now I sleep so much better and he actually feels rested in the morning, too.

There are also dental devices that can help with snoring/apnea. Just have to find a dentist in your area that makes them. A friend of mine uses this and she loves it.

  • hahah funny everyone is talking about their husbands...but im my situation I'm the one that snores and as my husband says, "breathes like an astronaut". Since I found out I was pregnant in September my husband has been sleeping on the couch! At first I was a little sad but now I'm loving it it is glorious! I never snored before so I think it comes with the pregnancy and my horrible allergies!

On Christmas Eve he slept in "my" bed and it was horrible! I was up all night because I was used to spawling out and having the bed to myself haha...the guest room has now become the baby room so there still isn't a bed for him to sleep on, just the couch...he's a good sport! haha

  • I think I got an hour of sleep after I posted and now I'm so tired at work. We have the humidifier in our room turned way up to help with my coughing, but it makes me all sweaty under the covers. But any part of me NOT under the covers is freezing! Especially my nose, it feels like I'm breathing in ice. My body seriously needs to make up its mind.

  • Yes!  He snores so badly!  Especially if he has any cold at all.  Luckily he knows it and has been sleeping in the other room if he has any sort of cold.  I don't even have to ask. Smile
  • DH says that I snore since getting pregnant.  Since I got my snoogle he said that I don't snore anymore.  It has been a blissful 5 weeks.  :)

  • I think the one of his greatest "features" is that he DOESN'T snore!  Ok, maybe little soft ones when he is on his back but that is it!  Now, on the other hand...he speaks clear as day in his sleep.  It hardly ever makes sense but it is super funny!  Last week was his phone number and voice mail password...just clear as ever and out of nowhere!!!

My husband has sleep apnea too. Currently we sleep in separate rooms because of his snoring. He has a CPAP but hates it and got impressions made with a dental device this week so hoping that works.

This is my husband, He will actually wake me up to tell me something that makes no sense. Then when I ask him "what???" he blames me for waking him up lol.

hahahaha! this is AWESOME. My guy does this once in a while...and it of course never makes sense. I found out when he is sleeping his name is Todd ...*shrug* but last week he said "NO I WILL NOT BE YOUR FRIEND!!" ..and I was like...well..at least he is setting solid boundaries!

I finally got to sleep about 30 minutes after my original post... woke up a few times to pee of course...and when the gardeners for the neighbors came *sigh* Friday's off from work are never super peaceful in our neighborhood.

Now...I have 1 hour till my anatomy scan thing! AH!

I am so happy to hear I am not alone in the snoring mate boat...and I think it is great that some of you started to snore since you got prego! haha

  • My DH is so loud with his snoring.  AND when I try to get him to wake up to move, he doesn't budge.  I end up on the couch a lot.  It's fine though, our couch is really comfy and I'm still not far enough along to be uncomfortable.
