Funny Pet Antics

While I was sorting through baby clothes, I let my kitty in the baby room.  He usually isn't allowed in there, but while I'm alone in the house I like to let him be wherever I am.  I had my back turned on him, and I see him out of the corner of my eye prancing out of the room with a stuffed bunny in his mouth.  I scolded him for it, but it was just so cute to see him prancing out with a baby toy I couldn't really punish him.  I just threw it in the stroller so he couldn't get at it.

Anyone else's pets do anything similarly cute lately?

Re: Funny Pet Antics

  • My cat just likes to jump in the crib, bassinet, stroller, and changing table.

We did find him on afternoon completely sprawled out on the changing table. It was too cute to be mad at. :)

  • My dog thinks every stuffed animal is her property. We keep the baby's room door shut usually, but forgot once.  I went up there and every stuffed animal was scattered around the room.  She came in and got a little stuffed cow and ran off.  It was very cute lol.  I had to tell her that belonged to the baby.  I imagine we will lose many stuffed animals to her lol.

  • Since our dog was a puppy, we always called his stuffed animals his babies. Not a smart move on our part.  We would say, "Go get your baby." He runs and gets it and shakes it while growling and prancing around like he is tearing it apart.  This may become a problem...
  • We had the glider sitting in the livingroom wrapped in plastic for about two weeks before we moved it into the baby's room and the cat showed zero interest in it. I started unwrapping it and the second the seat was exposed she was on it and that was the end of that. The rest of the chair still had plastic and she did not care. This week, however, she discovered the changing table so now that's her new favorite spot. She's just too cute. Basically, she lets us live in her house. I hope she agrees to let the baby stay, too. • We usually keep the door to the baby's room closed, but whenever we're in there we leave it open and our dog goes in and out.  Most of the time, he'll grab one of his toys and lay down on the tiny rug at the base of the crib and chew on his toy, it's so cute!

  • My 3yr old boxer/pit loves hiding his bones and rawhides in random corners or under furniture. Since we have assembled the bouncer and swing he hides them in there! He knows it's wrong because he watches from the corner of his eye like he's sneaky! If we catch him in the act, he grabs the bone and prances away! Hes a goof!

  • We have the same problem!  Our dogs think ALL stuffed animals are their property; I told my friends not to even bother buying the baby any stuffed animals, because they tend to not only claim the toys, but to then tear the living stuffing out of them. My friends went ahead and bought a few stuffed animals for the baby shower... so far I've managed to salvage two of them from the dogs.  The rest are now lost causes. lol.
  • Our dogs are just super interested in everything we have for the baby. They haven't been too interested, thank goodness, but anytime anything squeaks or rattles, they are all ears :)

  • One of my friends made a diaper cake for us so all the little diapers were rolled up.  As I'm trying to put them away, my puppy keeps coming and trying to claim them as her toys.  Thank goodness we got a diaper genie because if not, I think we'd wind up finding her chewing up dirty diapers after LO arrives.  That would not be very fun.

  • New pet antic: Last night we put together the pack n play for the baby to sleep in in our room for the first few weeks. It has a "newborn napper" attachment which just so happens to be perfectly sized as a cat hammock as well. She was in that thing within 30 minutes of it being put together and she slept there all night. It was a little lonely in the bed without her, but she's so cute in there I had to let her stay.
