We have a dog. She sheds. WTH will I do in a few months when DS is on the floor playing and crawling and biting everything in sight? For instance, baby has a toy and slobbers on it, drops it on the floor, picks it up and puts it back in his mouth?? OMG I have no clue what to do. There is no possible way to keep the floor that clean with a dog in the house. I am not a first time mom but it has been 12 years since I had my DD. What do you all think?

try a dog and 4 cats.
I put a blanket down before I put DS down on the floor. When DS is not on the blanket, the blanket has to come off the floor b/c the dog and cats will lay on them.
They do have their own blankets that are separate and stay on the backs of the furniture and on the bed, though. So they will stick to that as long as a baby blanket is not left out for them to lounge on.
I really don't know what I'll do when DS gets more mobile. We haven't come to that bridge yet.
we have bunch of animals. LO will be fine. Imagine if they play outside? They might just get into dirt!
Soap and water--- life is short people.
We have a lab that sheds like crazy. Even though we vacuum all the time, there's still hair everywhere. When we first brought DD home I was neurotic about the hair. I hated that it was on her blanket, her burp cloth and in her RnP.
Well, now that DD is 5 months....I'm much less worried. Even when we put her blanket away after using it on the floor, it always has hair on it. DD's clothes always has dog hair on them. I've given up being psycho about it.
No matter how much we clean, there will always be dog hair. I'm just happy that our pup and baby are great together.
Nice dog. Looks almost exactly like mine. Pitbull? Anywayyyy...
Obviously it's not going to kill my kid. I'm not an idiot and I've had dogs since I was a kid myself. I don't mind so much my child having dog hair ON him, it's IN his mouth that totally grosses me out. I hate when I get hair in my own mouth so I guess that's why it makes my skin crawl. Btw, my "kid" is already born.
I agree with PP's. It's just going to happen if you have pets, you'll have to get over it. I've got a dog and 3 cats, and plan on having more animals when we move to our bigger house (shh, don't tell, but I'm already breaking the city animal # law - oops!).
The cats share the same blankets, and I've had to pull hair off of DDs pacifiers. I'm not too concerned about it now, because obviously when she is mobile it'll be just uncontrollable.
DD will always obviously come first, but there will never be a point in my life that I'll be animal-less which means, pet hair everywhere.

You develop a deep meaningful relationship with the broom and mop! I started "no dog" area. They are not allowed upstairs so the hair is limited to the lower floor. I also got diligent about brushing them to keep the loose hair to a minimum.
What the heck? I don't think this is a regular thing that happens to everyone.
I found that as LO got more mobile I got more relaxed about what went in her mouth.
At first I controlled everything that went into her mouth.
Then she started being able to grab stuff.
Then she got mobile so she could go find her own stuff to put in her mouth.
As each phase arrives you naturally relax a bit more, which i think is all part of the process of LOs building their immune systems.
Now my LO is a walking disaster of disgustingness. She kisses the dogs, shoves her hand in her dirty nappy, eats food off the floor etc etc etc.
