Menstrual-like cramping

I'm 36 weeks and 2 days and while my DH and I were on our babymoon the last two nights I was having menstrual-like cramps I guess you could call it. I think they feel like cramps when you have to have a bowel movement because I never really have menstrual cramps. They lasted about an hour both days but were not timeable. Also, I've been having bowel movements like crazy the past two days. Has anyone else had these symptoms or know if this is the start of labor?

  • I had the same thing for the past 3 days. Called my OB and she said if water and rest doesn't help to come in for a cervical check. I went and I'm not even dilated, so she thinks my body is just getting ready to get ready, KWIM?

  • I'm having the same thing, it's pretty normal towards the end.

  • Yep.  Me too.  Been having that for a couple weeks now.

  • I've had them all week, all the time.  I have my weekly appointment with my OB tomorrow.  I'm high risk and she said it could be preterm labor.  Was told to keep my feet up, take it easy, and drink lots of water.  Will find out more tomorrow!

  • I've had that for awhile now too. My cramps will extend down into my thighs. And my lower digestive tract has gotten wonky towards the end.

  • I've been having that as well. I talked to my doctor at our appt today and she said it's totally normal. It's just the body prepping for labor. If you're bleeding, it would be a concern.

  • I've had this for a couple weeks now too: at first I was really excited thinking it was a sign labor was shortly around the corner, but my OB said it's very normal to get menstrual cramping for a couple weeks beforehand with no dilation.  :-/
