Health Insurance Cost Survey

Re: Health Insurance Cost Survey

  • I think when we add our baby it will be about $230 a month which I am very happy with.  This is through my husband's company (I will be a stay at home mom anyways).  I feel very blessed because through my old company I think it would have been like $1000 or something!! For pregnancy, I have not had to pay anything out of pocket except $250 for our admission fee and $80 for childbirth classes (we have Kaiser).

  • We definitely have it extremely good in this category.

$600 a year for our entire family-- no copays for maternity care (and usually for regular care), and they cover 100%.

Why? My husband is a medically retired disabled veteran.

We are on a private plan and willbe paying just over 500 for 4 of us with a 3k hsa. On dh's work plan we would be paying 600 a month with a 15k deduct....ouch

And he works for a very well known and respected international company.

  • I love my insurance.

I pay $66 a month for my medical insurance just for myself.  It has covered my pregnancy 100%.  My husband's insurance covers my copay.  I have no deductible for L&D.

My husband's insurance costs him about $80 a month for me and him, and I think he can add the baby for the same price, but does have some higher copays and deductibles, but nothing too crazy.  I am not returning to work, so we will just have his insurance soon.

  • About $800 per month.  My husband works for one of the largest retailers in the US as an executive mind you!

That doesn't include much.  $800 deductible per person ($2400 family) and a $4,000 OOP max for each person ($12k family). $25/35 co pays and our Rx coverage sucks.  I hit my max every.single.year.

At least our preventitive dental is usually free (or no more that $5) and our vision is only a $20 copay and we get something like $120 credit towards contacts a year.

  • A. Medical: $60 mo/for baby and me and $60/month for DH alone.  Dental: $30/mo. Vision: included for me and baby - hubby doesnt have vision.

    Total cost: $150

  • $0. My company pays the family premium as a benefit. Makes me feel better about my pay. Also makes me feel grateful after reading through the responses.
  • A. I'm a teacher and we have excellent benefits. DH, DS & I are all on my benefits. It cost us less than $600 to have our son but that s only because we decided to have him circumcised, an elective procedure not covered. My co-pays were $30 from start to finish & nothing from the hospital. After reading some of these posts makes me even more grateful for the benefits we do have! If we all were covered on DHs benefits it would be significantly more & the more he makes the more he pays for benefits.

  • B.  We currently have the HMO vs the PPO plan my husband work offers (union) so it does cost us more upfront, about $300 a month out of his paycheck for our family but it is awesome insurance.  We do not have a deductable and everything is covered 100% (except dr office co-pays which was $20).

  • We will pay $450/month, but the coverage is great.  We almost everything paid for, including our copays because of the company benefits.

  • letter C...about $600. But I consider myself fortunate since my job pays 70% of my premium and I have excellent coverage.  It's also pre-tax which helps big time.

  • Letter C- We pay out of pocket for 80/20 insurance and for our family plan it's $640 a month it stinks but it beats not having insurance...
