I get way more excited about New Year's Eve celebrations than Christmas because Christmas is kind of lame.
What's your UO this week?

Re: UO Thursday
This. Friends of mine had a baby yesterday and my comment to DH was "It looks like an alien."
New Year's Eve celebrations are over rated. I'm so over it. I've been doing the go out to parties thing for 13 years now and I think I'm skipping it this time around. Cheap champagne, crowds, loud people- not my thing these days.
I think I'll stay home and drink good Champagne

This! I prefer to stay home and drink in my own home, so I know I am safe, and can pass out whenever I want without worry!
I think all Christmas decorations/tree should be taken down by December 26..27th at the latest. I love Christmas and everything about it, but when it's over, it's over. I HATE seeing trees up until the new year.
(Side note: Even though I really strongly feel like this, MH thinks I'm the grinch, so they're still up.
)
Some people celebrate Epiphany (12 days of Christmas) and keep them up until January 6. I don't do this but I know a lot of people that do.

I know I know...I keep trying it hoping that I will like it but it never works.
Maybe if you knew that the actual end of Christmas is in January (The Feast of Kings, I believe? Or they choose to wait the Epiphany/ 12 days of Christmas), you would realize why some people keep them up.
Really? I've honestly never heard of this...
In that case, I would be fine. I'm talking about people who celebrate on the 24/25th.
Jinx! Honestly, I have met a lot of people that have never heard of The Epiphany. It's a Catholic celebration. But here in New Orleans, it is well known.

Yes, it is also known as "The Twelfth night". Like the 12 days of Christmas. Christmas gifts are given on Jan 6 in celebration. It also marks the first day of Carnival for us New Orleanians. It is a Christian celebration but mostly just Catholics celebrate it.

Have you tried Cafe Zinfandel? It is the only wine I will even attempt to drink.
I hate it too. However I did find that I can tolerate the taste of dessert wines. Try that to see if that works for you too.
I wish the whole animal print craze would go away. Yes on some people, in some aspects with a little at a time is cute. But if you honestly look like an actual cheetah walking down the street. Its time to change.
Oh and I am sorry, I can?t stand Nicki Minaj. Her song Super Bass is mildly okay, but for whatever reason there is something about her in general that I can not stand.
I'm with you but I'm pretty sure it's only because I've had sh!tty stuff. I'm too lazy to find a good kind.
Its like snark. Some can deliver it, some can't.
I couldn't agree more. I worked in a restaurant for 8 years at the end of high school and up until my last semester of college. I think a lot of people don't understand what waiters/servers/hosts have to put up with. A lot of people don't realize that (in my town at least) servers only make 2.15 and hour. The bulk of their pay comes from tips. My Dh has managed restaurants for over 15 years. It is amazing what some people complain about.
I LOVE Christmas decorations makes the house feel warm and inviting. Oh, and last year my son was like 3 months at Christmas and loved to look at the Christmas tree lights while in his swing so the tree stayed up until.......MARCH
I am typically one of those people who leaves it up until the Epiphany, but for some reason this year, I am itching to take it all down and clean my house!
Wow I went to Catholic school K-12 and never learned about it. Interesting. Granted, I might not have been paying attention that much either. Is it a regional thing too I wonder?
Agreed. I always feel bad when I think a baby isn't cute. DH says "Ugly babies make beautiful adults." That may be true sometimes, but I still don't want an ugly baby
Awh that's really sweet of your DH
I've always thought this, as well. Working in service and/or retail is such an eye opener in a lot of ways.
I went to a Christian high school and never heard of it there either. Here is a link if you'd like to read about it though.

Agreed! I take my Christmas stuff down but DH and I exchange cards for the 12 days of Christmas and on January 6 I make a King Cake. No gifts though.

My UO is that I hate text messaging. For short messages that do not require a conversation, it makes sense to me. However, I hate trying to explain something or have a full conversation via text.
If someone starts sending me message after message, I usually just call them.
I went to a Christian high school too. I am wondering if it's a regional thing, too. I live in New England and have never heard of it until now. But thanks for the link! I like learning new things.
My original UO really was not meant to apply to people who celebrate this though (obviously since I've never heard of it) - I am talking mainly about my own house and how I'm sick of looking at all the crap. lol

I half agree with this. Sometimes it's just easier to call.
I hate voicemail more than anything though.
I tend to agree.
I completely agree with this!
Haha I've made up MUCH dumber excuses to party
Normally I would tend to agree with you about NYE, but since I've had such a $hitty year and I'm over 2011, I'm okay with celebrating the new year.
I love her, but I think you're right about damaging her vocal cords. She's had to cancel many concerts due to voice strain.
I usually don't mind checking voicemail that much.
