Trying to Get Pregnant

UO Thursday

I get way more excited about New Year's Eve celebrations than Christmas because Christmas is kind of lame.

What's your UO this week?

TTC since June 2010.
DX hypothyroidism, pituitary hyperfunction, and PCOS.
On med/treatment break indefinitely. Not currently trying.
Lots of love to all of my Golden Girls!

  • I loathe FF today. Granted, if I used a secondary method of O detection ( opks) I probably wouldn't have the problems with it that I do, but my control freak personality doesn't allow changes. :)
  • I don't really care if people don't chart or ask questions about being late when they don't chart. I'll tell them about it because I think it's helpful but I don't see the point about getting huffy when people use the counting calendars. Majority doesn't know about charting & to expect them to is absurd.

  •  New Year's Eve celebrations are over rated. I'm so over it. I've been doing the go out to parties thing for 13 years now and I think I'm skipping it this time around. Cheap champagne, crowds, loud people- not my thing these days.

I think I'll stay home and drink good Champagne :)

I strongly agree with you and furthermore, think that some people actually might be able to get away with the counting calendars. If you do honestly have a textbook cycle, feel when you O and have an active sex life charting may not be necessary. Yes, all it takes is for one cycle to go wonky and with out charting and knowing 100% when you O?ed you do not know whether you are late or not. But if you can handle that and not ask internet strangers if you?re pregnant then you don?t need to chart.

  • I think all Christmas decorations/tree should be taken down by December 26..27th at the latest.  I love Christmas and everything about it, but when it's over, it's over.  I HATE seeing trees up until the new year.

(Side note: Even though I really strongly feel like this, MH thinks I'm the grinch, so they're still up. Huh?

Some people celebrate Epiphany (12 days of Christmas) and keep them up until January 6. I don't do this but I know a lot of people that do.

Maybe if you knew that the actual end of Christmas is in January (The Feast of Kings, I believe? Or they choose to wait the Epiphany/ 12 days of Christmas), you would realize why some people keep them up.

Jinx!  Honestly, I have met a lot of people that have never heard of The Epiphany. It's a Catholic celebration. But here in New Orleans, it is well known.

Yes, it is also known as "The Twelfth night". Like the 12 days of Christmas. Christmas gifts are given on Jan 6 in celebration. It also marks the first day of Carnival for us New Orleanians. It is a Christian celebration but mostly just Catholics celebrate it.

I think everyone should try working in the service industry for 6 months, maybe then some of them wouldn't be so freaking rude to the waiter/cashier/whatever the moment they see them.  I understand that some of the employees are horrible and unhelpful, but you don't need to be an @$$hat too.

I couldn't agree more. I worked in a restaurant for 8 years at the end of high school and up until my last semester of college. I think a lot of people don't understand what waiters/servers/hosts have to put up with. A lot of people don't realize that (in my town at least) servers only make 2.15 and hour. The bulk of their pay comes from tips. My Dh has managed restaurants for over 15 years. It is amazing what some people complain about.
