I have a 2 week old niece and I was holding her this afternoon and feeding her. Usually she gets a burp break mid way through her bottle. I was doing that, but apparently not as well as I should have and my mom corrected me and was instructing me how to burp her the right way. I was like, "omg I'm going to be a horrible mom. I don't know wtf I'm doing." I also had a moment like this when I was holding my niece at 5 days old while she was crying. I really hope this gets better.
"You know my name, not my story. You've heard what I've done, not what I've been through. If you were in my shoes, you'd fall the first step."
No one is born knowing how to be a great mother. We all learn as we go-especially first time moms. Be kind to yourself. ((Big hugs)). You will get there!!
You will learn. No one does it right the first time. While somethings may come naturally, other behaviors are learned. Those nurses in the hospital are there to help you right after and will walk you through things, especially the lactation nurse.

If it makes you feel better, I have been having those moments all the time recently. I'm trying not to think about it since LO will be here soon and I've done all I can to prepare. Hugs to you and try not to worry.

Just keep practicing with that baby niece of yours. It's all a learning process. I'd have no idea what to do if I hadn't dealt with so many babies in my life (7 nieces and nephews, now, plus I worked in a home day care for a couple of years and have done LOTS of babysitting babies, etc.). You'll be fine.

One time when Kamryn was about 2 weeks old she spit up and couldn't catch her breath and I stood there screaming for help......Not doing anything else just screaming...DH took her flipped her over and gave her this weird jiggle thing and she started to cry and was ok.
Afterwards he looked at me like I was crazy for crying
Another time I was feeding Katelyn (SD) she was 2 and turned my back, she stood up in the highchair and fell out.....I cried longer than she did..
Then once, before Kam could roll over somehow she fell off my bed while I was changing her diaper...
Point being...I am not a bad mama, you won't be either, but things happen and you learn as you go and sometimes you will freak out more than necessesary...It is ok, you love the baby and you will do everything in your power to make sure that baby is safe and happy and healthy. And yep something at somepoint is going to make you think what was I thinking I am a horrible mom...I still think it and Katelyn is 7...But you aren't and LO will grow up and be happy and love you no matter what..
Besides there are more than one proper way to raise, change, burp, feed, and love a baby!!

I am always afraid of this! They don't come with instructions, and I'm afraid I won;t do things when my child is supposed to start. Like when do they start eating? If they are sleeping shouldn't I left them sleep, why would I wake them up to feed them? Tummy time? Pretty much wondering if I'm going to break my child or cause them to miss a big developmental milestone then they will end up being behind in school.
A friend told me this is why you have friends with kids, they tell you when it's time to do stuff.
