And the Wait Continues

Last week, I was so happy, because at my bloodwork appointment, the nurse told me to go ahead and TTC after my next period. My period started the day after that appointment, so I thought, "Yay, my next waiting game will be the 2ww!"

HOWEVER, yesterday morning, another nurse from my doctor's office called to give me the results of my bloodwork (negative hGC, yay!), and said that the doctor's out of town and wanted her to tell me to wait 3 cycles before TTC. My heart sank.

Now, I'm just confused. I want to call my doctor, but she's out of town until Monday. I just want to know why she thinks I need to wait 3 cycles--and why her nurse is running around misinforming people. 

Ugh. So that was just a vent, I guess.
It was a rough road, but Arlo Daniel was born April 1, 2013—and our second rainbow is due October 12, 2014.

    I agree with PP. I'd call and leave a message for the nurse or one of the other partners in the group. If you were mentally ready to ttc and now have to wait, I think my heart would hurt too. Plus the waiting game is so difficult. I say call. Sorry you've been thrown for a loop. Hugs.

    Thats incredibly frustrating.  Is there no one at that office you can talk to?

    What a huge let down! I agree w/ Mrs Gaines, maybe there is a NP or PA who can read the notes and find out why.

    I'm so sorry, that is so frustrating!  I would definately try to get a message to someone else in the practice.  (((hugs)))

    8/5/11: BFP; 11/14/11: no heartbeat on US; 11/16/11: delivered my angel baby, 19w1d; 12/15/11: D&C

    Ugh, that is so frustrating! I hope you get to talk to someone and that the nurse is misinformed. GL!

    How upsetting! I hope you can get a straight answer. I was told two different wait times too. My regular OB said 3 cycles, but the dr who did my D&C said 1. When I asked my OB about the difference, he told me it was for emotional healing. It ended up not mattering (see siggy), but I would have felt comfortable after 1. Good luck!

    Oh man. I can't imagine.  Waiting through one is just about killing me, so I understand exactly how I'd feel if I'd gotten a call like that.

    That is just wrong that they told you to wait one cycle and then all of a sudden changed it to 3. I wonder why they would all of a sudden change their minds weeks later.

    I would definitely put a call in to your doctor when you can to find out what's up!

    I agree with meg. Obviously try and drill down to someone who can give you reasoning, but I would venture to say that with that type of variance it could be for emotional reasons. And only you can know when you are emotionally ready. I'm sorry you are going through this! ***hugs***

    Ugh. What a let-down! I agree with PP. I would definitely want to know why.

    I hate when some doctors give the "wait 3 cycles"--and then only when you probe, do they tell you that it is for emotional healing. I can understand the recommendation, but we are all grown-ups who can weigh the pros and cons and make our own decisions.

    If waiting 3 cycles is because the the conditions surrounding a particular woman's m/c or that particular doctor's conservative view on the prognosis for the next pregnancy, then I can understand. 

    Otherwise, I would rather they say "physically, your body will be ready after 1 cycle, but I recommend that you wait 3 cycles, so that you can also be emotionally ready."

    The doctor is our OB, not our psychiatrist.  

    Married 4/12/08 DS born 11/17/2009 via c-section at 39 weeks. 11/12/2011 BFP #2!! m/c 7w5d. 2/28/2012 BFP #3 Beta #1-12dpo = 18; Beta #2-16dpo = 185; Beta #3-18dpo = 505. EDD 11/10/2012. Ectopic discovered at 5w4d. D&C followed by methotrexate.

    What PPs said, get a hold of someone there to get clarification! That's too much variance for my taste.
