Trying to Get Pregnant

What time of day to take OPK?

I've read that it is good to test around 2pm for catch your surge. I work in a busy doctor's office and I'm going to have a hard time testing then. I could probably do it around 1:30pm and again at 7pm when I get home. What time does everyone do their OPKs?

Re: What time of day to take OPK?

  • I usually test 2-3 times per day... morning, mid-afternoon (say between 2-4pm) and at night, around 10pm.

  • I think (correct me if I'm wrong) that it depends on the brand. Some brands state to test between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. or something like that. Personally, I tried that, but I usually do better catching my surge with FMU. When it gets closer to my O date I usually test 2x per day - once in the morning and once when I get home.

  • Last month I tested with FMU and around 2:00-2:30 when I got home from work. I got my first + opk with FMU using clearblue digitals

  • FMU & when I get home from work around 5:30. I don't ever bother with the 5:30 one anymore because it's never ever positive, even with consecutive FMU positives.

  • I normally test between 2 and 3 when using opks but I am using my cbefm this cycle so I will test with fmu

  • I do mine in the afternoon around 3 or 4, but you should be able to do it at 1:30 as long as you didn't drink a lot of fluids beforehand.  GL

  • Last cycle was the first one where I used them regularly and got a positive.  On the day that they were positive, I tested with FMU, then at noon, then 5PM & 9PM and they were all positive and then negative the next morning.

I realize that was a lot of testing but since it was my first time with +'s, I wanted to see how long my surge was for future reference (plus I was in disbelief ;)

Going forward I will probably test with FMU and then again around 5PM.
