Shopping for a bridesmaids dress while pregnant...

So my friend is getting married in June, my baby is due in February, and I am going with her and the other bridesmaids to look at dresses this weekend. I'm so nervous about how I will be deciding what size to order for an event 4 months from the birth of my baby. Hopefully I don't have to order too soon. I'm 30 weeks right now and I've gained 25lbs. I try to eat balanced meals for a healthy baby. Generally speaking...Is there any weight loss during that 4 month period?! This is my first child. What have your experiences been?

  • I personally do not have experience but my best friend just had hers 4 months ago and she gained 50 lbs. She went on a strict diet about a month after baby and is back in her size 4 jeans and lost all of her weight. As long as you want to loose I am sure you could do it by then. It might be a nice motivator for you :)

  • I'm in the same boat. I'm due May 18 and standing up in a wedding June 23. Talk about bad timing. We are ordering the dresses next weekend. I think I'll just order the size I am currently or 3 sizes bigger than I was to start with. I already have a baby bump now so I'm thinking I maybe around this size for the wedding. I really have no clue what to do. I plan on taking the dress to my tailor the week of the wedding for emegency alterations.
  • Honestly, 4 months after having my son I was back in my regular clothes/size and maybe 3-5 lbs from my pp weight. It will vary for everyone. I was nursing, which helped, and I exercise a lot. I was in a wedding that was 3 months pp and I think I ordered 2 sizes up and just had it tailored appropriately after having the baby.

  • Everyone is completely different, but something to keep in mind - I lost all the pregnancy weight the first week home from the hospital but I still couldn't fit in my regular clothes until about 2 months postpartum.

My brother is getting married in May and his fiance asked me what size dress she should pick up for me in September, a month before the baby was due.  I told her there was no way I could estimate what size I'd be 8 months from then - I feel your pain!

  • My  due date is June 7th and I am the maid of honor in my b/f wedding on June 16th....so ya. I am screwed. I was fitted for a size 12 pre-pregnancy, I am going to order a size 16/18 and hope for the best. It is a strapless too, any ideas how to keep the girls up? I am a 38 triple D now, ugh!
