The general answer would probably be "no" since they're so young, but I added mine because 1) Bad teeth run in both of our families and I want a clear history of her teeth recorded and 2)It was only like an extra $5/month to add her.
It is standard policy for my HR to add newborns to all medical/dental policies at the same time, once we had the ss#. So C has been covered from the start; my dental policy is free and covered by my union. (but there is no maternity leave and promotions/hirings are ridiculously difficult, so no haters out there...)

I assume you have to wait for open enrollment when you want to add her? I might wait another year if I were you.
Im glad you posted this...because I have a bad feeling that in my delrious state of just having a baby, I put her on everything as an infant. Im going to have to look into this. lol
I did, but the only reason I did it was fear of the unknown. Like what if he was playing and knocked a tooth out, or something. I think we're going to take him for a cleaning around his third birthday.

No. My pedi and my dentist said she does not need to start seeing a dentist until she is three. My pedi checks her mouth and teeth at wellness visits and since everything looks ok he said no need to go to the dentist. She turns three mid December next year so she won't see a dentist until Januaray 2013. I already elected no dental insuance for 2012 for her.

We were already paying for the family plan (DH me and SS) so I didn't cost anything extra to add DD. She's had dental since the day she was born, but we're never used it for her.

No, I won't add her until she's old enough to need cleanings. Right now it makes more sense for me to pay for her visits OOP (or use my FSA money).
As for coverage in case of trauma to her teeth, my medical policy will cover that while she's young, so there really is no reason to pay for a dental policy right now.
We added them right away. I've heard recently that they should be seen for their first exam at either 12 months or 6 months from when their first tooth erupts... whichever comes first. We didn't take DS until around 20 months but we're taking DD next week.

We added her for 2012. I talked to my dentist at my cleaning in August and she said she recommends they start coming around the age of 2. Plus, with her clumsyass running around and falling all the time, I want her covered in case she breaks a tooth or something.

I have family coverage anyway so he was automatically added once he was born. He went to the dentist a couple weeks ago. It was time for our cleanings and he hates to brush his teeth so we had them look at them.
In your case, I would probably say "no just wait until next year." We actually justs added Grant because I switched from my dental plan to DH's and it was basically nothing to just add Grant too. If we took him to the dentist and paid outright for a lap visit it is $60 and it will actually cost us less that that to insure him for a full year on the new plan, so we went ahead and added him. The pedi dentist we plan on using recommends they go at 2 or 3 years of age.

Yes, he's actually been covered since before he had teeth bc it would have been a royal PITA had he needed any emergency treatment and wasn't on our plan. Besides, we took him to the dentist for the first time at 13 months, so he needed to be covered for that. It's also only a couple of extra bucks to have him on our plan.
I added my toddler, mainly because she's clumsy as fuuck and I want her covered if she knocks a tooth out.
Add them!! DS fell and hit his mouth on our bed footboard. He knocked a tooth out of socket and knocked 3 other teeth loose! We had to see our normal dentist and a specialist. We have had to have 3 more check ups with the specialist to make sure everything is healing well. So far we have paid $5... Our insurance has covered close to a grand! Kids are so clumsy!!
We're putting him on when the next open enrollment comes around in case he falls and needs any dental work. Unlikely but worth the few dollars a month.

We're putting DS on DH's insurance for 2012. I wish we had of done it sooner because he chipped his two front teeth a couple of weeks ago.

I remembered you saying this, and that's why we went ahead and added our DS on our dental plan for 2012.
