My Cat is About to Have His World Rocked

Seriously.

My days as a pet enthusiast are going down the drain faster than Octomom's titties.

I just heard my cat scratching at something...upon investigation, I find him tearing up the carpet trying to get in the nursery. He literally pulled the carpet up, and now the carpet nails are exposed and the carpets no longer bonded to the carpet pad.

I chased him for a good 5 minutes to assure him a swat on the arse....but he just keeps on going for the door.

Someone's about to end up living on the roof.

  • I know how you feel. My dog did something similar today. He walked into the nursery and peed on the carpet and walked out! He is completely housebroken and knows that was wrong. It's wearing on my patience.

  • I think Animals know when there world is about to change forever. We rescued a siamese cat from an animal shelter after we got married and Shadow's been our baby ever since. Ever since I found out I was pregnant he has been so ugly to me..Grabbing my legs when I leave for work and when I put on my shoes to leave the house he bites my legs! He also bites me sometimes when I pet him-I love him to death but I think he knows he's gonna be put on the back burner once DS gets here...That's part of the reason I'm weary of putting the crib together yet-since Shadow sleeps with us (for now) and the crib will be in our room-I know he'll be wanting to sleep in it....

  • Cats can be quite the troublemakers! Go get soft paws put on your cat! I went to my vet yesterday and got them put on for the second time. They are lifesavers when you have a cat who is being destructive!

  • My inside cat has an obsession with the 2 doors that stay closed in the house- the one to the garage and the one to the laundry room.  He has done major damage to the carpet leading to the garage, so we have phone books, towels, etc. placed there to prevent further damage.  It looks ridiculous, but since the garage is off of the basement, no one sees it anyway.

We have an indoor/outdoor cat that adopted us that is trying to find her way back to the street (semi-kidding).  DH was out of town a few weeks ago and I waited until the morning of trash pick up to take out the trash.  I was in pj's and a warm coat, so I just slipped on my favorite casual shoes to take care of it.  When I put the second shoe on, I felt something wet and quickly realized the cat had puked in my shoe- awesome.  Last night, that cat was in DH's lap sitting in the living room chair when she suddenly puked again, getting puke all over DH's jeans, the chair and the wood floor.  We've asked the vet before, and they don't know why she pukes but this is getting old very quickly.

  • Our cat has decide to poop in the bathtub every night! The cat box works during the day but for some reason I go in to pee in the middle of the night to a stinky bathroom.

  • I'm the owner of two feline fur babies...many problems we experience with cats tend to be behavioral.

Cats like to have a " lay of the land" of their domain. If you have changed a room and put new stuff in there they can sense it. It's better to let them patrol it and surprisingly enough they normally become disinterested afterwards. Same with the crib...it's best to let them sniff it out, etc. and then when baby arrives they won't be paying much attention to it.

  • I am worried for my fur baby as well. He has definetly changed he is uber protective of me now. My DH can't even sit next to me on the couch!! He has always slept with us at night usually always at my feet, but since I became preggo he has decided to wrap himself around my ever growing belly. He's my baby and when we MC'd last year he became my whole world, and actually helped me trough it alot, he's very intuned to my feelings. But I can tell that he knows things are changing, I'm worried that he will start to act bad and I'm not sure how to deal with it he has always been an amazing house cat. I agree with PP letting them be a part of the changes, letting them sniff things out for themself will help hopefully.

  • My cats have been banished to the basement (its not a creepy cement basement, it has nice tile floors, etc) .......the one started peeing on DH's dirty work clothes (he cuts down trees for a living so they smell like sweaty man, trees and diesel fuel) that he left in a heap on the bathroom floor. They also scratched up the woodwork all over the house.

I feel bad, but at least they have a warm home, good quality food and I do go play with them daily...

It just sucks b/c DH said I NEED to find them a new home or give them to the humane society. I refuse to drop them off at a shelter. We've had them since before we got married. I'm hoping my parents or other family/close friends will take them in. They're good loving cats but DH hates them with a fiery passion... Crying

Isn't there some stuff you can spray on the carpet to disgust the cat? I know people whose cats loved clawing the couch, so they sprayed some stuff on it, and the smell repels the cats. They have to respray every couple weeks, but it appears to work. It's like a little spritz bottle for something like $8 I think? Maybe go to the pet store and check out what they have.

  •  We are having issues with our cats as well. I got them as kittens about a year before DH and I met. Ever since we moved in with DH 3+ years ago we have had issues with them peeing.... everywhere. Dirty clothes, the sofa, our bed, the dogs bed. We have tried every thing that we can think of to stop this but nothing has worked so far and we are both getting to the breaking point. I believe that they are doing this b/c they are competing with the dogs (two 13 year old labs who awesomely enough are beginning to have their own potty issues, yay). With the LO coming I know something has gotta give. It just breaks my heart thinking of re-homing them though, because they are really sweet cats :(
