Well. My kid is perfect so I don't need one. Bwhahaha.
I'm totally kidding. I don't have any children other than the LO inside me And I will use one in an instant, in the future, if it will help to keep my child safe.
Ive never used one. My son sat in a stroller or held my hand. I think its important for them to learn to hold your hand. What if your crossing the street and she/he has the leash on will you hold her hand or let them run ahead of you cause they are on the leash? Its up to you but I dont think you need one.

In my opinion, it depends on the kid. Some kids just bolt. Not all of them are attached to mommy's hip and are afraid of strangers. My niece would wonder off in the grocery store and let anyone pick her up. (We never let her do this, we let her down and I followed from a short distance to see what she would do or if she would freak out once she realized she didn't know anyone around. Nope, she didn't care.) My SO was a runner as a child. Children can get around a lot quicker in crowds than adults can.
I didn't register for one and I'm not going to buy one unless we have serious issues keeping DD from running away.
This exactly. We haven't had to get one yet, but are not opposed to it should the need arise.

I honestly don't know; I think it will depend on the personality of our child. I wouldn't have probably considered it except that I know how my sister was as a child. Our mother was an extremely attentive, relatively strict mom, who was quick on her feet and watched us like hawks. I was the good child, who would stay put when told, stay near when told, or could entertain myself when needed. My sister was the demon child (in an affectionate way!) who we still, to this day, call Houdini. She could be strapped into the stroller 10 different way and still escape in 3 seconds and then she'd dart! And she loved to climb/hide/etc. She managed to escape from a very secure, properly clipped carseat at a year old. She managed to climb on top of the kitchen counter, use the top cabinet as a swing, and get to the top of the fridge at 18 months in literally under a minute. I'm not joking in the slightest. She disappeared on the beach (while literally playing at my mother's feet, with my grandmother, aunt and uncle all sitting in a circle around her, and even though they noticed she was no longer playing in roughly a minute, she had made it across the beach and back to the hotel, into the elevator, and up to the proper floor and knocked on the door for my cousin's grandmother to let her in- at 2 years old!!!!) I know that some people reading this will judge my mom and think that she just didn't watch us, but that isn't the case at all. Even my aunt/uncle/grandmother were astounded when they realized that she managed to escape the attention of 4 adults in under a minute. Soooo....based on my sister, if my child is anything like her, I will definitely have a leash. Screw anyone who'd give me the side-eye; I'd rather have my child safe. If it takes a leash to do that, so be it.

I am one who believes leashes are for parents that don't know how to teach their children to stay with them or children with learning/mental disabilities that really need it. Unfortunately, in most cases of those using leashes, it's the first.
I have an early childhood behavior/education background and over 10 years of professional nanny and teacher experience. Every toddler I have taken care of has been trained/taught to stay with me, when in public. I've taken care of children with all different temperments and even those with "no fear" can be taught. The parent just has to be more persistent than the toddler.
I never even considered using one with my son and won't with this next child either.
If anyone has questions, just let me know. I'd be happy to answer any questions one might have.

I would just clip the dog's leash on!
haha, all kidding aside, some kids are just too independent to hold hands and stay at mommy's side.
