Diaper rash cream and overnight diaper recs

DD has a diaper rash I can't get rid of. I've tried several creams including the one that worked wonders when she had amoxicillin and nothing is working. She has little red dots, which are diff too. She also is leaking thru diapers at night and waking up soaked. I have her in a size larger pampers baby dry. I pull the up in the front and secure them tightly and she still wakes up wet.

Any recs for something that has worked for you?

Re: Diaper rash cream and overnight diaper recs

  • DD just had her first really nasty diaper rash and we started coating her in aquaphor and it got rid of it in 2 days! It also is great to use regularly at night since it creates kind of a barrier between their skin and wetness.

If it's persistent against creams, is it possible it's a yeast infection? If so, you might have to have a prescription?

She had some yeast at her 6 mo appt and this looks diff. I'll try the aquaphor. Thanks!

  • LO had an awful diaper rash a few weeks ago and we used the A&D ointment and it cleared it up within 2 days.

  • B got a really bad rash from Pampers that we just could NOT get rid of.  Not even aquaphor worked.  Although California Baby was really expensive, I didn't know what else to do, so I got.  Worth every penny!  Gone in two days.  He had the really bad red bumps, too.  As soon as B started rolling over and sleeping on his tummy, he was soaking through as well.  I got these diaper inserts for extra absorbtion.  They look like thick overnight maxi pads.  You can get them at BRU.  He hasn't had a leak since.

  • We use Huggies Overnight Diapers. I can't really recommend any particular diaper rash cream though because I haven't found any one in particular that works 100% of the time.

DD gets diaper rash pretty frequently and has since birth. I don't know why other than she might just have very sensitive skin. I find the best treatment is 1) lots of time to let her skin air dry and 2) use cotton balls and water to cleanse her bottom, as opposed to wipes.

    Thanks for the insert idea!

I'll have to look at those, there have been a few nights where she's woken up in the morning with her back a little wet from a soaked diaper.

  • The only diaper rash cream that worked for K was Triple Paste. Bought a little tub of it when she got a really bad rash from heat, and after a couple of days she was completely clear. I'm pretty sure we'll never have to buy another tub of it again! When she had the bad diaper rash we used some every single time we changed her diaper, and now we tend to use it after every dirty diaper... And we're still not even half way through the container!

  • I use aquaphor during the day and after his bath I load him up with A&D before bed. I use huggies overnight diapers and they have been working really good. He would soak through every night with regular diapers. I have to say so far we have not had a diaper rash. I really think its from the A&D at night. The only reason I don't use it to much during the day is its stinky.

I have a sample of this and it's not working....we are on day 3.  It goes to show that fit totally depends on the baby.  And what worked on 2 other rashes isn't working this time.  Ugh.  Guess I have to keep a million cremes!

so true! I was thinking this earlier because PP said aquaphor never worked so she got the CA baby cream. Well the CA baby is what we normally use and it did nothing for her bad rash, then aquaphor cleared it up immediately! too funny.

  • DD had been leaking through her double stuffed cloth diapers so I tried Huggies overnites last night and they were great. After reading a bunch of reviews, those and fisher price seem to be the most popular.
