The major theater chain in Canada - Cineplex Odeon - has a rewards program called Scene that lets you earn points through purchases made with your bank card. Every 1000 points is a free movie ticket.
We have a theater in town called the "VIP" which is 19+, so it can serve alcohol. They also serve appetizer type foods, like mini burgers, sweet potato fries, baked nachos with real cheese, deep fried mushrooms, etc. It's also assigned seating, with mini tables in between each set of two seats, and reclining leather chairs.
WELL. Not only do my Scene points work there, even though I only have enough for one ticket, on Tuesdays, it's only $12.25 instead of $21.95 for admission - pretty much the cost of a regular movie ticket nowadays. I also have a $25 gift card for Montana's Steakhouse, which would put dinner around $20 out-of-pocket.
DH's xmas present last year was to see the first Sherlock Holmes movie in the VIP theater, so he's getting his present a little early this year. I set it up with the roomie to watch D tonight, and we're going on a dinner-and-a-movie date! For less than $40!
The movie's not done until 11:30, we'll be home around midnight, so roomie and both kids should be in bed, meaning HOPEFULLY I'll finally get some action!!

That's awesome! Hope you're having a great time...
BTW I dunno if you do air miles but I NEVER pay for movie tickets anymore because for only 190 miles (which doesn't take long to earn) you can get a gift certificate for a movie night at cineplex odeon...it includes 2 Free Admissions, 2 Regular Soft drinks, and 1 Regular Popcorn...I have had two of them lying around for months and need to use them...two free date nights!
