How often do you use your carseat with uppababy vista?

I bough an evenflo carseat back when I thought I was having a girl (we have since seen boy parts on the ultrasound) and it is pink.  And then we got the uppababy vista stroller and the evenflo won't work with that.  But how often do you really use the carseat with the stroller?  I looked at getting a car seat cover but those cost nearly as much as a new carseat and I would buy one that worked with the stroller.  Right now I am thinking of just trying to dye the pink fabric to something like brown or buying a cover from flashybaby that should work with the evenflo and another brand like graco if we do decide to get another car seat.  Will I regret not having a car seat that works with the stroller?

  • Number one reason why you shouldn't buy anything gender specific before the baby is born...especially big ticket items!  I have a city select which is the same idea as the Uppababy and I used it all the time with the infant seat.  It was so convenient to just click the seat into the adapter on the stroller frame and go.

Maybe you could sell your evenflo seat and buy a different one, or maybe you could find a good deal on a snap n go type of a stroller that would work with evenflo?  I don't think they are too pricey.

  • We used the car seat for quick trips and I used it a lot while on maternity leave. It is so convenient to just click the car seat on and go! If we were going to be awhile, I used the bassinet because I didn't like him being in the car seat for too long. We are just now starting to use the stroller seat instead of the bassinet.

  • All I have to say is don't get a carseat cover than isn't from the brand itself - or it will void your warranty, I believe.

  • Honestly, we used it allllll the time.  It would be a dealbreaker for me if I couldn't use the carseat adapter with the stroller.  Especially since the UBV is such an investment.  I used the adapter until she was like 6 months old, constantly for trips in and out of the car.  I used the bassinet, then seat for things like walks and the mall. We bought gender neutral everything because even with the anatomy scan I wanted to be safe!  And like a PP said - anything that goes on the seat, behind the baby voids the car seat warranty due to safety issues.  GL making a decision!

  • At first we didn't buy the carseat adaptor since we mostly took him out for extended mall trips and I'm not a fan of babies being in their carseats for extended periods of time.  However, we purchased the adaptor once he started to get heavy (around 5 months) and were mad we didn't get it earlier, it made short errands so much easier.

  • We have an Orbit Baby and used our carseat with the stroller base all the time because she was always asleep in the car for the first 3 mos so it's always better to just switch to the stroller. We also would stroll her to our apt as we live on the 21st floor in our bldg and our car is parked in a garage below the building. Is your carseat compatible with a snap and go frame?
  • I have a Bugaboo (so same idea) and I pretty much use the base with the car seat exclusively.  The seat is still built as a bassinet, that's how little we use it (DD has long outgrown the bassinet and it needs to be converted so she can sit up.)

Now that we live out in the 'burbs, it's so much easier to transfer DD from the car directly onto the stroller without having to unbuckle her and disturb her if she's sleeping.  I can't imagine not having a car seat adapter.

  • We never used it, didn't even buy the car seat attachment, but we live in the city so we don't drive that much. The other option would be to get one of these. If you haven't already bought the adaptor for the Uppa, this would work well. That is what all my friends did.

  • I do have a snap n go I got at a consignment sale, but I like my vista better.  I think I will use it with the snap and go since I plan on mostly using the bassinet at first and see how it works out.  If I don't like messing with two different strollers I can get a new carseat then.  I wish I had decided on my stroller before I got the carseat, but I got antsy about getting all the baby basics.
  • It was rare. If we took walks around the neighborhood in the newborn days, LO was in the bassinet. When we went out and about, I found it was easier to just wear him in the moby or sleepy wrap.
