Please recommend your favorite disposable diapers

hello, I'm working on my registry. I'm not sure if I should put 2 diaper boxes of 96 each for size Newborn, 1, and 2, or should I add more? and which brand is the best?

Re: Please recommend your favorite disposable diapers

  • We now cloth diaper, but did use disposables for the first 3 months due to Jules being in a hip harness. We started out using Pampers, but that was about the time of the DryMax fiascos, so we changed to the generic Target brand diapers and found we preferred those over pampers. We still use Target brand diapers when we use disposables on the girls, and do like them.

You will be amazed how many diapers you go through, especially in the early days. Plan on 10-12 diapers per baby, per day. As they get older, that number will drop some, but even at almost 2 years old, we do 6-7 diaper changes per day on each girl.

  • we use nature's babycare...they are at least partially biodegradeable (and I couldn't get dh on board with cloth)

we have also used huggies pure and naturals in the past and liked those ok too...

when we had the girls we used every brand out there (b/c people got us all sorts of sizes and all sorts of brands) we used them all...and I will say having the next size up "in stock" in our house when it was time to move up was fabulous..

  • I love Pampers the most, and Target ones are fine.  I hate Huggies, I think they are too stiff and don't fit well around all shapes of kids.

  • A lot will depend on when your babies are born.  My DDs were 5lbs14oz and 4lbs12oz at birth and we went through at least 5 boxes of newborn plus all the diapers we came home with from the hospital.  I think we used 1 box of Size 1 (because we had it as a gift) and then went to the size 1-2 that we got from Sams(?).  We started with Pampers Swaddlers (pre dry-max controversy...not sure about their situation today), but switched to Target brand diapers around 3 or 4 months and haven't looked back!

  • I've tried several brands, but end up with Pampers.  When they were babies, loved the swaddlers.  Now we use cruisers.  I'd put 2 boxes of each size.  If you like them, you keep them.  If you don't, return the unopened boxes!

  • I can't help you on the sizes because mine are now in size 5 and I hardly remember when they were in smaller sizes.  I LOVE Pampers though.  I'm cheap so I normally buy UP&UP (Target) but if I were to get free diaps it'd be Pampers hands down.
  • My guys are tall and skinny. Pampers tend to fit them the best. We actually had to start with a few P sizes, even though they weren't that light. (5.10 and 6.2) but they just fit better than N. We used swaddlers until size 4, now we use cruisers. They are about the only ones tall enough for them.

  • I use Luvs because next the store brand, they are the best value plus they work well for my kids.  However, I am not picky but Pampers and Huggies are more expensive and wouldn't normally buy them myself.  In the beginning you will be going through so many diapers because they eat and poop/pee so often.
