What do you drink?
I am a D.iet C.oke addict. I love it! But I drink too much of it and want to try and give it up. I really like that it has no calories, and I think that is one of the reasons I drink it so much. What other drinks can I add to my list that arent loaded with calories? (I can only drink so much water...but I am trying to increase my daily intake of that as well). I used to drink a lot of C.rystal L.ight, but that is loaded with a.spertame (as is d.iet c.oke) and I want to try to avoid that too.
Any suggestions?
And if you gave up soda, how long did it take before you didnt really want it anymore?
Thanks ladies!
Re: If you gave up (or don't drink) soda..
i have never been a soda drinker, so i never gave it up... but here is what i drink-
hot: coffee, tea (sweetened with sugar or honey). i like good earth tea, it is naturally sweet and you can buy it decaf or caf.
cold: water, iced tea, or 100% juice in club soda /seltzer. it obviously has more calories than 0, but i have never had trouble maintaining my weight despite drinking things with a few calories.
I really stopped driniking soda in high school. The bubbles bother me for some reason (but I do just fine with champagne and beer, weird). I do have two or three sodas a year, when the mood strikes me, but that's about it.
The only things I drink are water (90% of the time), milk, beer, and wine. I don't really like juice either. I wish I could give you some good advice, but water really is the best no calorie drink. From what I understand it does take a while to get used to. Good luck!
I gave up diet c.oke for Lent b/c I was becoming an addict. We stocked it in our work fridge and in our hospital lounge we had a fountain machine. I have always enjoyed water and besides milk that's pretty much all I drink. I now try to limit myself to one DC per day and that's really only at work, we don't keep it at home. You could try some of the flavored water, I've never really looked at them though so they may be just as bad as crystal lgt. We have good tap water and if available I just add lemon.
By the time Lent was over (40ish days) I didn't care to dive right back in so you could try giving it up for the month of January and then allow yourself one or so a day and see how it goes.

We've never been a soda family. It's always odd when MIL visits because our fridge becomes loaded with soda.
I drink tea in the morning and late afternoon, and juice, water, or vitamin water in the meantime. Does wine also count?
DH drinks vitamin water and plain old water. He could drink that all day.

I drink a lot of seltzer now.
Most times it's seltzer with a tiny splash of juice or water with a splash of juice. There is only so much water I can drink straight.

I don't really remember when I cut out soda. I actually can't say that I actively stopped. I was just drinking so much of other stuff there was no room for soda. And then I realized I felt better without it. I still have 1 bottle of (imported) coke once a month or once every other month, but I don't crave it and go out of my way to look for it. Just, if I'm at a restaurant that has it.
When I got pregnant I was drinking so much water (about 3L/day) that I was never thirsty for anything else. With G's pregnancy it was either water or milk. I know. I'm boring
it tastes good to me though. So I drink what the kids drink.

I do drink pop, but very little.
I'm not a bug water fan either, but I'll drink it sometimes. Most of the time I mix it with crystal light or I'll put a splash of juice in it (cranberry juice adds a lot of flavor with only a splash). Since being PG, I've been loving milk too, but that is not my norm.
I haven't had any in a couple of years now, it gave me such bad heartburn while pg with DS.
I drink coffee in the mornings, then water, milk, wine and occasionally juice. Usually just water though.
I stopped drinking soda regularly years ago. I still have an occasional soda, especially since Coke was pretty much the only thing that helped with migraines before I got actual medication for them. Sometimes I just crave it, have a can and don't drink it again for months.
I drink mostly water.
You could try getting those sugar-free flavorings for water. A friend turned me on to ones that are basically like adding orange or lemon to water. I've also done it myself at home by filling a pitcher with water and cut up lemons. Cucumber is also fun in water.
