NBR: Do you love your dishwasher? Tell me about it!

Ok...our dishwasher is broken. It was the one the builder put in and it STINKS! It has NEVER worked great but now doesn't work at all. Needless to say, I am asking for a new dishwasher for Christmas! Any recommendations?

    I love my dishwasher more than bookie :-) I have a kitchen aid dishwasher. It is super quiet and very effective. I have the one with adjustable shelf and a top shelf tray for utensils. So almost like a third shelf. We got it at Factory Builder Supply. It is so great that when my mom needed a new dishwasher I bought her a Kitchenaid from Sears. Not the same model as mine but still great.

    I can tell you what I hate about ours so you can cross it off your list...

    We have a Whirlpool Gold and the thing is louder than a whorehouse on a Saturday night. We try and run it when we're about to leave the house. You can't watch TV in any room of our house if the dishwasher is running - you can't even hear yourself think. 

    On top of the noise, you have to constantly clean out the bottom of it because of junk build up. Yuck.

    Hate, hate it.

    We have a GE in the house we live in, while I do like it, I really miss our GE Profile in our Houston home. It was super quiet and did a great job cleaning the dishes. It was stainless steel without the cheesy black panel.

    I was coming in to say that I have a Whirlpool Gold and I like it.  I'm not jumping up and down excited about it or anything, but it works, it's quick, and I haven't had any issues (mind you... we've only lived here 6 months).

    Nikison - are you sure you dishwasher isn't 'sick'?

    We have a Bosch dishwasher, not sure the model #........but I LOVE it!!  It is so quiet and really cleans the dishes nicely.  Our old GE model that the builder installed SUCKED, so glad we got rid of it.  We comparison shopped for months and on the recommendation of my SIL, got the Bosch.

    Check out homeeverything.com once you decide which one, they usually have the best price and they don't charge shipping or tax(at least when we bought they didn't).  We got a great price and we also bought when Bosch was doing a rebate............it worked out great for us:)

    I just checked Consumer Reports and they have the best rated ones as Bosch, Miele, Whirlpool, Kenmore, and KitchenAid. HTH!
