Vaccines. It's no biggie that I worry about vaccines, they are just simple shots right?
Dh and I dread the upcoming vaccines and we didnt' like them in the past. She has her 15 mo. well check today and with the weekend she had she will NOT get them today. But she may get them next week...or the next...
We know more today than we did 6 months, 8 months, 15 months ago about the pros and cons. As a lay person mom I am torn and worried. I am not sure what the doc's reaction will be after my million questions but hope he has answers to settle my worries. BLAH.
Re: *sigh* dreaded 15 mo vaccines, anyone else worry
I may get flamed for this, but I would not get the shot until you feel comfortable with it. You can always get a shot later, you can't unget it. I see the benefit in vaccines, I totally get the herd immunity thing, but I don't agree with how many shots are given at each visit. We chose not to get more than 2 done at a time, I will not vaccinate when Kate is sick, and we prioritized some shots over other. DTaP? Got it on schedule. Polio? I felt comfortable waiting on that once since Polio has been eradicated in the western hemisphere.
We have done a very delayed schedule, but Kate will be fully caught up before she starts preschool at age 3.
ETA: I'm more cautious because I have had a (suspected) vaccine reaction. Kate has had a localized reaction which freaked the nurses out a bit but the pedi wasn't concerned with.
ditto kiarox for me. we did delayed and no more than 2 at a time. and we still haven't done MMR or varicella for any of my kids (6,4,2). my dr doesn't love it, but he has let me decide every time, which i appreciate.
ditto this.
