We are moving in 2 weeks and the little girls will have their own room (!!!), I have an idea of what to do with it but I need opinions on color. The carpet is dark, dirt/chocolate brown and the walls are a coffee color so we have a good, neutral base to start from, we will not be painting. We have a colorful, gender neutral crib set for Owl's crib, Apple is still in a bassinet but she will be getting the same set when we transition her to a crib, the cribs are both dark brown. We will be keeping the room gender neutral in case the girls leave us.

We have 2 dressers for their room, one is painted orange and the other is pale blue (will be painted to go with their decor and knobs changed), we may end up using the large blue dresser only. Ignore the mess, one is in storage and the other is in the big girls room right now.

I would like this art and possibly these curtains that match the crib set:

Now onto where I need help...
1. What color should the big dresser be painted? I love the look of yellow but am not sure if it's too much, the dresser(s) will be the main pops of color.
2. If we use both dressers, should I paint the dressers the same color so the room is more cohesive?
3. Buy the curtains pictured above (will keep the space light and bright) or buy solid colored curtains?
I'm open to any other suggestions you want to throw my way. ![]()
Re: Nursery decor help
Nursery decorating... you're speaking my language! I love the whole theme--bright and cheerful! Just what those girls need.
I love the yellow dressers, and it totally goes with the sunshine theme. I think if you did a slightly more muted (but not dull) yellow, it wouldn't blind you so much. Maybe like the one on the right with the blue accessories on top.
2. I agree w/ mommymonster--if the dressers are on the same wall, 2 yellows might be too much. But, on 2 different walls, I like it.
3. We didn't get black out curtains--and I kind of like that some sunlight comes through during the day to *hopefully* help reset his body clock. I got curtain rods with two bars and figured I could always add black out curtains later if needed.
P.S. Did you get my email? I sent one to the address on your blog offering some "stuff" for the girls if you need anything.
I would paint the bigger dresser yellow. Love the pictures and the curtains. Keep up the wonderful work you're doing!
Again, after I read your blog the other night - I thought to myself, thank you! I needed to be reminded about how our words and tone of voice can I flick pain when we don't realize it. Thank you for reminding me! I ADMIRE your courage!
