Exciting leave news!

I am a full time student and work part time. I called HR today to put in for my LOA and when they asked for my start day i decided on 1/11 with an EDD of 1/18. When they asked for my return date I wasn't sure what to say because I wasn't sure how much time we were allowed. When I asked she said 18 weeks!!! Obviously because I am a part time employee it is unpaid but, still 18 weeks! I was shocked. She said you get 6weeks maternity and then 12 weeks of baby bonding time! I decided my return date would be 4/1, only using up 11 1/2 weeks out of my 18. She said that I can take the remaining 6 1/2 weeks throughout the year or if i choose I can call and extend my leave. I am so excited!!!
