My sis had her scheduled c-section today. After an hour in recovery my BIL sent n email that she was rushed back into surgery because her uterus was not contracting. she was finally back in the room several hours later, but on heavy meds and can't breast feed until tomorrow.
it all sounds so scary, and I have no idea how much she has even got to see her baby. did any of you have this? what was your experience?
Re: heavy bleeding/uterine atony
my mom had this happen. They ended up saving her uterus saved but she was pretty sick for a week and didn't see me for a week. She had two more children 13 years later and did fine with both.
It really depends on what exactly happened. I am happy she is ok.
Saying prayers for a quick recovery
i was in surgery for two hours after my babies were delivered. i hemorrhaged and lost 2 units of blood.
prior to my c/s i asked my doctor to walk me through all the possible complications during a c/s, and what would happen if my uterus didn't contract. he outlined something like 5 steps they would take (if A didn't work then B, if B didn't work, then C, etc) and the last step was a hysterectomy. he explained to me after my c/s that he did everything up to the hysterectomy.
anyway, i didn't see my babies for about 12 hours after my c/s and stayed in the hospital for the full 4 nights. once i was released though, no restrictions outside the normal PP rules. i just felt very weak for a while and was on lots of iron pills for 6 weeks.
i hope your sister recovers quickly and feels well soon!
