Q about your experience with Kawaii

I am wondering if anyone has used the Kawaii OS diapers in general.  I am considering a couple of these for the newborn stage but I wondered what real life people have to say.  They get good reviews and are cheap, most bloggers like them.  But do they stand up to your standards?

TIA!!

Re: Q about your experience with Kawaii

  • If you're talking newborn, only the Pure and Natural will fit. I don't have any of those. I do have a ton of the square tab crossover (both snap and aplix) and the good night heavy wetters. I like them all, and they've lasted well for me so far.

There are some reviews in the sheet in my siggy.

  • I have 6 pure and natural and they work well for a newborn stash. DH likes these the best because they are so easy to put on (he gets frustrated with the snaps). I double stuff them when I am leaving the house with LO so he can last longer. I say give them a try!

  • Kawaii OS are bigger than most of my other OS diapers. FWIW, the only diaper that has lost a snap was one of my Kawaiis. I'm just not a big fan.

  • The OS are far too large for a NB. I have several of them (only prepped them) and they are much larger than the NB sized diapers. They do look like they will have great absorbency for when LO gets to be that size. Like others said, you might want to try the Pure and Natural for the NB phase. Good luck with your decisions!

  • I had one and hated it.  I tried to love it - I really wanted to - but I could never get it to fit my baby right and it just seemed awkward on her.

  • I love my Kawaii, but as PP have said they are too big for a newborn.  The pure and natural might work, but my newborn was way too tiny for anything besides prefolds for about a month (was 7lb 1oz at 1 month appt)

I love the original square tabs now, they fit much better than my fuzzibunz OS and are waaay cheaper.

  • We didn't CD as newborns but have heard good things about the pure and natural. We use the Kawaii Minky and absolutely love them! Personally, I love them more then any other brand we have tried. I have one who is super skinny and then both of the girls have chunkier legs. It took a day or so to find just the right fit (snap combo) that worked for each one but has been a breeze since. I think they have held up great so far and I wash them daily. My DH also loves them as much as us and thinks they are super easy to get on.
  • Thanks for the replies!  I think I will get 2 PnN and see how they work.  I will have time to get the OS after he is born.  I did register for them (plus others) so maybe I will get one or two at my shower!

  • I have about 8 of the Pure and Natural's for my little girl and I started using them when she was about 10 lbs and I love them. I probably could have used them a little sooner also but I did sposies the first month.  I have 3 various OS Kawaii pockets that I use on my older son and even at 2.5 years old they are fairly roomy on him, granted he's super skinny but still.  I can't even imagine trying the OS Kawaii dipes on my DD for several more months since they are so big.

  • That's what my stash is mostly made of. They were cheap and they've held up well for about 5 months now. I find the microfleece inners to be much better than suedecloth, and I love how the inserts fit into them. I like that you can tuck them in and not have to worry about it creeping out the back. I actually like them better than my BGs and HH. The pure and naturals still fit well and are super trim. We weren't able to use anything until about 8 pounds or so I'd say.

  • They are the only CD that didn't work for us.  And we have like 20 different kinds in our stash.
